 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   "Combination of fibers and a rubbery binder, forming a flexible and airy layer"
The present invention relates to a combination of fibers, in particular coconut, and a rubbery binder, such as latex, at least partially coating the fibers to fix them together so as to form a flexible and airy layer, in particular a layer of padding or protection.

   Such a combination is used in multiple fields. It can be used for the manufacture of seats, mattresses, cushions and pillows to be used on land, on and / or underwater, in the air, in space. This combination can also be used as upholstery for civil and military vehicles. Other possible uses, cited by way of nonlimiting example are: the insulation of fruit trees (like actinidia), the manufacture of sports mats (like tatami mats) the manufacture of filters (for example around perforated pipes for drainage, or for air treatment, or for filtering water), packaging, building insulation, etc.

   There is a constant need to improve this combination to make it more attractive to users, in particular for users of a product made from this combination.

   Thus, for example in the case of bedding in hospitals, rentals, etc., even for domestic use for very sensitive people, there is a growing demand for constant disinfection of the mattresses and other cushions making up this bedding.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   In these example cases and in others not mentioned here, the smell of latex can be a disadvantage under certain circumstances. This could be the case when insulating fruit trees, the smell of latex heating in the sun could repel the insects necessary for the fertilization of flowers.

   The present invention aims to provide a solution to this need to disinfect the above combination, in many of its uses, and / or to give it a pleasant odor.

   To this end, according to the invention, the binder is a dispersion comprising microcapsules which envelop at least one disinfecting agent, with bactericidal and / or virucidal activity, and / or a perfuming agent.

   This solution has proved to be surprisingly effective compared to any other conceivable solution (such as, for example, a coating soaking of the above-mentioned flexible and aerated layer) to solve the same problems because the microcapsules retain the abovementioned agent or agents enclosed and release them only gradually during the entire lifetime of said combination. And as this is carried out in the mass of the binder, the deodorization of the latter by masking its own odor can only be practically total.

   In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, in the dispersion there is a batch of microcapsules enveloping the two aforementioned agents.

   In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the binder being based on latex, a treatment agent against aging by U rays is mixed therewith.

   Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the secondary claims and the following description which illustrate, by way of non-limiting example, the combination of the invention.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   The combination of fibers and rubbery binder of the invention can be explained in the context of natural coconut fibers and a rubbery binder which is latex, the latter coating the fibers and fixing them together to form a flexible layer. and ventilated as used to form, for example, a padding for a car seat or mattress, after having cut and treated this layer in a manner known per se.

   According to the invention, the latex binder is a dispersion in which microcapsules (that is to say microscopic capsules) have been incorporated which envelop at least one disinfecting agent and / or a perfuming agent. The disinfecting agent may for example be IRGASANT DP z, the bactericidal and virucidal activity of which is known. The perfuming or deodorizing agent can be a scent of vanilla, lemongrass (and then it repels mosquitoes more), etc. depending on the use cases.

   During use of the aforementioned combination, each manipulation of the flexible and aerated layer, possibly also a temperature variation thereof can cause microcapsules to burst, whether on the surface or in the dispersion, and the agents thus released little by little can act.

   It has been observed, in the laboratory, that the effectiveness of the agents thus released could last beyond 25 years thanks to the use of these microcapsules dispersed and used in a distributed manner, statistically, over time.

   According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, each microcapsule can envelop an amount of only one of the two aforementioned agents or an amount of each of them, optionally at the same time as one or other products useful for d 'other purposes in the combination.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   For example, to modulate the release of the above-mentioned agent (s) and / or products, it may be advantageous to incorporate into the dispersion a batch of microcapsules with one of the two agents and a batch of microcapsules with the other agent. This way of doing things can be useful in the case of agents having an interaction, in order to spread the interaction over time.

   In addition, there may be in the dispersion a batch of microcapsules enveloping the two aforementioned agents and a batch enveloping only one of these two agents, for example in the case where it is desired that one of the agents is released statistically more frequently than the other. In this case also the microcapsules of the two batches can wrap other products.

   Advantageously, in particular when the layer produced with the combination is exposed to light (protection of trees, packaging, etc.), a treatment agent against premature aging of the latex by the agents is added to the dispersion. ultraviolet rays, this agent possibly being TINUVIN 571 known in the latex field.

   It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and that many modifications can be made to these without departing from the scope of the present invention.

   Thus there may be in the dispersion of the microcapsules enveloping other products than the aforementioned agents, these other products being suitable for the use of the combination.
