<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Air purifier filter for freshwater and sea aquariums that can be used in aquaculture.
The present invention relates to a filter and a chemical solution for the purpose of purifying the blown air in any way whatsoever in the field of aquarists and aquaculture and this as well in fresh water than in sea water.
In the field of aquarists and aquaculture, the use of different processes allowing aeration therefore oxygenation of water is common, whether through a compressor, a air pump, water pump or other.
If many filtration and water purification procedures have been developed, these prove to be inadequate when it comes to filtering and purifying the air. Take the case of an aquarium; the air blown into it is charged with dust, microorganisms, bacteria as well as household pollution such as occasional odors of polish and paint, product fumes
EMI1.1
such as sprayers and deodorant blocks and w insecticides, while these fumes seem harmless to mammals, they can prove fatal for fish, cold-blooded animals.
In addition, the air filters fitted to good quality pumps such as mainly felts, are only physical barriers with the aim of eliminating a tiny part of all these problems.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention, as characterized in the claims, aims to remedy these various problems in a single operation. Indeed no modification of the aeration system, therefore of oxygenation, existing is necessary, see figure l, it is enough to interpose the filter 2 between the aeration source 1, most often an air pump or a compressor, and the rest of the installation which aims at aquarium 3, taking care to protect both source 1 and aquarium 3 by non-return valves 4 and 5. If the source of aeration is powerful enough to supply several aquariums, it is not necessary to multiply the filters indeed one filter by aeration source is sufficient.
In the case where the aeration source is a compressor it is enough simply to use materials resistant to pressure indeed, the filter by its design as well as by the use of adequate materials is already itself designed to be able to undergo without damage enough pressure.
But the filter is not everything, indeed the solution it contains is based on the following principle; that is to say that in a strongly alkaline environment no living organisms can survive, by meeting these characteristics the solution developed thereby eliminates all pollution of bacterial and viral origin, moreover with regard to dust and other pollution these these combine with the solution either by mixing or destroying themselves on contact and therefore no longer have any harmful effects when the fish survive, since they are no longer injected into the aquarium. In addition the solution is cors-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
also fitted with a specific alkalinity indicator, ie a colored pH indicator which makes it possible to constantly check the validity of the solution as a function of its color.
If the color of the solution changes the solution should be replaced.
The advantages obtained thanks to this invention are numerous indeed the various external pollutions that can contaminate the water in the aquarium are very greatly reduced, not to say completely eliminated, and are limited only to air and water contact on the surface which is minimal compared to the air supplied by pump or compressor.
In addition, the changes of seasons so much feared by aquarists, because diseases of bacterial or viral origin proliferate there, no longer contaminate fish which are very sensitive to it, tropical and marine fish which are often very expensive, in fact the mortality of these is greatly reduced, not to say nonexistent, thereby resulting in an increased health of the fish and the virtual elimination of losses for the breeder or for the individual, with all the consequences that this may entail such as for example the quality of animal husbandry, the possibility of raising species sensitive to outdoor pollution and well-being
EMI3.1
of the aquarium occupants.
The invention is explained below in more detail using drawings representing only one embodiment. Figure 2 shows, schematically, an overview of the filter when in Figure 3 it shows the same filter in section
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The filter is composed of a transparent acrylate tube 7 which is occluded in its lower part by a pvc plug 9 and this by gluing and in the upper part by a three piece pvc fitting composed by a junction with a screw thread 15, secured to 7 by bonding, a screw cap 14 and a plate 12 serving to support the inlet pipe 16 and outlet 17 of the filter and moreover to be able to occlude hermetically via the seal 8 once the thread is tight.
In addition, the inlet pipe 16 must go down inside the filter to below the minimum level of the solution 11 and it has at its end a diffuser 18 allowing increased mixing of the air to be purified in the solution , the use of a porcelain diffuser 18 is advisable for the fineness of the bubbles as well as its absence of reaction to the solution. In addition, a mass of synthetic foam 6 as well as a device 13 composed of a strainer and a junction with the outlet pipe 17 greatly reduces the evaporation of the solution which would tend to dry on the walls of the filter this being when the air in the solution boils.
To ensure correct operation of the filter, it is necessary that the solution is always kept between the minimum level 11 and maximum 10; In the annexed drawings, no indications relating to the dimensions are stipulated, in fact the format of the filter depends on the volume of air to be treated of the material used as well as the medium or the assembly is installed, for example for a or several aquariums with a total capacity of around 1000 to 1500 liters and using only one
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
aeration source a filter 35 cm high by 10 cm wide and having a capacity of 500 al of solution is sufficient. In addition, the materials mentioned for the realization of the filter are only purely indicative and it could very well be made of polyethylene or any other inert synthetic material.
Regarding the input 16 and the output 17 of the filter, these can be multiplied and adapted according to the existing installation.
With regard to the solution, its main characteristic is to have a high alkalinity, ie a pH greater than 10. This may for example be composed of the following elements: Sodium bicarbonate Sodium hydroxide Distilled water Bromothymol blue glycerin pH of solution greater than 10 Sodium bicarbonate intended to initiate the degree of alkalinity and thereby avoids using too much more corrosive sodium hydroxide, this being used to bring the pH to the desired value . Glycerin is used in the same way as distilled water is a solvent intended to increase the viscosity and therefore reduce evaporation.
When bromothymol blue it serves as a colored pH indicator and it is he who gives us permanently by its color the validity status of the solution.
