<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
verwarmingsmassa.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Mounting method of a thermostat with plastic housing on a metal heating base of a cooking vessel
This invention relates to a new fastening method of a thermostat whose housing is made of plastic and is to be mounted on a heating base of a cooking vessel in a manner that prevents deformation or destruction of the plastic housing in case of overheating the bottom of the cooking vessel, for example when the container is boiling dry or the primary bimetal of the thermostat malfunctions.
The new method of mounting the thermostat with plastic housing on the heating base must therefore simultaneously guarantee an accurate positioning of the thermostat in order to ensure its good function, and also to limit the heat transfer from the heating bottom to the thermostat housing.
Two heating methods are known for a cooking vessel with autonomous heating: - either with the heating resistance inside the container, in direct contact with the liquid in the container, as in fig. 1 - or with the heating resistance at the bottom of the container, as in EP 0 3 7 555 B 1
In the first cited heating method with resistance in the liquid, the thermostat housing is attached to the heating resistor flange by internal threaded pins, welded to the resistance flange, whose pins have a dual function: by screwing the thermostat housing on these pins screwed on, and the accurate length of the pins should ensure a proper distance from the resistance flange.
If the thermostat malfunctions, these hot tips can cause local heat distortion of the plastic housing.
The second heating method uses thermostats with a ceramic housing to prevent heat distortion of the thermostat housing, because of the shorter proximity of a larger metal

heating mass. Consequently, the known method of fixing by means of short metal threaded pins is not suitable for thermostats with a plastic housing. Therefore the use of ceramic housing.
The object of the present invention is to enable a safe and accurate fixation method of a plastic thermostat housing on a metal heating base, whereby the problem of the shorter proximity of a larger heating mass has to be overcome.
The present invention appeals to another invention of a notifier, which comprises a method of manufacturing a stainless steel container with an aluminum bottom on the bottom side, according to which an aluminum plate or an aluminum ring using heat and pressure by applying a press friction welding method to the bottom surface of the receptacle is pressed and connected thereto, characterized in that when pressing the aluminum plate or the aluminum ring, pins for fastening other construction components are formed by blending presses together with the bottom in one operation with friction welding, and the pins have the shape of river pins, see fig. 2.
On these river pins, a connecting bridge or fastening parts is riveted (riveted). These bridge or fastening parts are made of a metal which has a poorer heat conductivity coefficient than the aluminum of the heating base, or of shape and temperature resistant non-metallic material with an even worse heat conductivity coefficient.
Thus, this bridge or fixing parts offers a twofold possibility of reducing the contact temperature with the plastic housing of the thermostat: - by the distance between the riveting point of the bridge or fixing parts and the fixing point of the thermostat housing - by manufacturing the connecting bridge or fixing parts from materials with considerably lower heat conduction coefficients.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which: fig. 3 shows a cross section of a container with the thermostat

connected by means of a connecting bridge fig. 4: a cross-section of a receptacle in which the thermostat is connected by means of fastening parts, in addition, the special feature that the bimetal sensor of the thermostat feels against an elevated surface in the bottom of the receptacle, which has the advantage that during empty-dry cooking the raised part of the bottom first comes to dry and thus heats up more quickly and the thermostat therefore acts while the bottom part above the resistance is still covered with water, which is advantageous for the service life of the heating bottom.
The container 1 consists of stainless steel with a bottom surface 2. An aluminum bottom 3 is connected to the bottom surface 2. The electric heating resistor 4 and rivet pins 5 are located on this aluminum base. These rivet pins serve to rivet the connecting bridge 6 or the fixing parts 7 with which the thermostat 8 is fixed.
