<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Container for viscous liquid products including a spout
The present invention relates to a container for viscous liquid having a closed bottom surface and a top surface, which is opposite the bottom surface and which has, on a substantial part, an opening, which is delimited by a peripheral rim and is intended to allow the flow of viscous liquid by tilting the container, the container further having an envelope surface connecting the bottom and top surfaces.
Containers for known viscous liquids, such as conventional paint cans, in particular cylindrical, have the serious disadvantage that in use,
EMI1.1
when liquid is poured from the container, liquid spills over the envelope surface of the container and into the generally hollow rim, with almost inevitable stain formation. In addition to the unclear appearance which the containers thus acquire by the formation of product flows on the external face of the container after drying of the product, the product residues on the rim generally prevent a good closing of the container after use. This not completely watertight closure spoils the conservation of the product in the container, especially when it comes to paint or milk.
The present invention aims to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks.
To this end, the container according to the invention comprises a pouring spout which is adaptable to the container of m1 / 1ière 3 beyond the aforementioned rim.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Thanks to the arrangement of the spout on the container, the liquid product can be poured from the container through the spout. This makes it possible to avoid the uncontrolled formation of flows on the envelope surface of the container, thus giving a sharper appearance to the latter after use.
Other features of the invention are defined in the subclaims.
Other advantages and features of the invention are described below in an exemplary embodiment according to the invention with the aid of the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of a pot with a spout.
FIG. 2 illustrates a sectional view of an enlarged detail of FIG. 1.
Figure 1 illustrates a container or pot, in particular of paint. However, other liquids with a certain degree of viscosity, such as glue or varnish or even ink and dyes, or even perishable products such as milk, may be taken into consideration. The pot 1 has a generally cylindrical appearance with a bottom surface 2, a top surface 3 in which is provided an opening 5 and an envelope surface 4 connecting the bottom 2 and top surfaces 3. The opening 5 s extends over practically the entire crown surface 3 and is delimited by a peripheral rim 6 extending around the periphery of the crown surface 3.
Conventionally, the peripheral rim 6 is profiled and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
has the appearance of a groove open towards the outside of the pot 11 as is clear from FIG. 2. The pot 1 can be closed by a cover (not shown) which perfectly adapts to the opening 5 and allows a tight closure before use.
When it is desired to pour product and that for this purpose the pot 11 of the product is tilted spreads in the bottom of the groove forming the peripheral rim 6. This gives an unclear appearance to the pot and can also hamper handling (and / or the storage of these after use), by the contact with the unpleasant product that this can cause to the hands as well as by the release of an unpleasant odor of the product remaining in the groove.
In addition, product flows on the envelope surface are generated which further increases the harmful effects indicated above.
According to the invention, a spout 7 is arranged on the pot
1. Thanks to the arrangement of the pouring spout 7, the flow of the product can be carried out so that the product passes through it. Thus the uncontrolled formation of flows on the envelope surface 4 can be avoided.
Remarkably, the pouring spout 7 is arranged on a band 8, the latter being arranged along the peripheral rim 6 along the longitudinal axis of the band 8.
A particularly effective mode of adaptation is thus obtained from the pouring spout 7 to the pot 1.
111-lae. flexible 8 is arranged in the opening 5, against the peripheral rim 6, parallel to the longitudinal axis A of the pot 1. Thus, the flow of the product out of the pot takes place directly by the pouring spout, and the accumulation of product in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
bottom of the groove forming the peripheral rim 6 is avoided. In addition, no residue of dried product can still form an obstacle to a perfectly sealed closure of the pot by the lid.
Advantageously, the strip 8 is made of an elastic material allowing very rapid adaptation to the pot.
No external fixing means, such as glue is necessary in this case. The band is maintained by the elastic pressure of its lateral zones against the rim 6.
It is also possible to arrange the flexible strip externally at the peripheral rim 6 so that it extends at least over part of its height on the envelope surface 4 of the pot and that the bottom 9 of the pouring spout 7 coincides substantially with the peripheral rim 6. This also makes it possible to avoid the formation of flows on the envelope surface 4 of the pot.
The pouring spout 7 is preferably made in one piece with the strip 8, for example in a molding operation. This simplifies the adaptation of the spout 7 to the pot 1.
In a preferred embodiment, the flexible strip is provided with. ur flat bead or sealing bead 10.
The bead 10 is provided on at least a part, preferably over the entire length of the leading edge of the strip 8 which is opposite to that having the spout
7. Advantageously, the bead 10 is arranged on the face of the strip pointing outwards by the presence of the pouring spout 7.
Figure 2 illustrates a sectional view of a detail showing the cooperation between the flexible band 8 comprising the spout 7, essentially at the height of the bead 101 on the one hand and the peripheral flange 6 on the other hand. A protruding profile of the bead
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
having a rounded portion 11 ending at the tail 12 proves to be particularly advantageous for ensuring a perfect seal between the strip 8 supporting the pouring spout 7 and the peripheral rim 6 of the pot. Thus, when liquid is poured, no leakage is caused between the strip 8 and the peripheral rim 6. In addition, the rounded portion 11 of the bead 10 ensures precise positioning of the strip 8 relative to the pot 1 itself by wedging the rounded part 11 against the bottom of the groove forming the rim.
A perfectly parallel positioning of the strip 8 relative to the peripheral rim 6 is thus obtained, the strip thus being also placed at the desired height relative to the peripheral rim 6 so as to ensure optimal flow through the spout 7. In fact , it is preferable not to insert more than necessary the band in the pot 1 relative to the peripheral rim
6 so as to prevent the leading edge 14 of the strip from obstructing a sufficiently complete evacuation of the liquid from the jar 1. Otherwise, the space 13 which is between the strip 8, the envelope surface
4 of the pot and the rim 6, would become too large and a quantity of product exceeding the required threshold could be blocked there, thus causing excessive loss of product.
The rounded portion 11 of the bead can be hollow as illustrated in FIG. 2, thus ensuring better flexibility of the bead 10.
The bead 10 is fixed to the strip 8, for example by gluing. Advantageously, the bead 10 is made of a non-absorbent material so as to avoid excessive accumulation of product in the bead 10 and to keep it sufficiently operational.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The tail portion 12 of the bead which is inserted between the peripheral flange 6 and the strip 8 allows an effective wedging of the strip against the peripheral flange, thus promoting sealing.
A precut is also provided in at least one lateral zone of the strip 8 along a line, for example a straight line 15 so as to allow a lateral portion 16 to be detached from the strip 8. A squeegee element is thus obtained which can be used for cleaning or scraping the strip 8 after use. Thus, a maximum of product can be recovered and the band, as well as the spout be precleaned. A corresponding precut is also provided in the cord 10 for a convenient separation of 16.
The strip 8 is made for example of a plastic material, preferably transparent. It can also be made of a biodegradable material.
The strip 8 with the pouring spout 7 is disposable. However, it can also be reused if necessary.
For the packaging of the pot 1 and pouring spout 7 assembly, the strip 8 can be placed around the envelope surface 4 of the pot 11, for example at the base thereof or parallel to it. Maintaining the strip 8 on the pot can be ensured by detachably connecting the lateral ends of the strip, for example by means of an elastic band. This allows a convenient stacking of the pots each provided with their spout.
The improvement thus provided 1 thanks to the invention, to the flow of the product by means of the spout is particularly inexpensive.
It should also be noted that the object of the present invention can also be used in a manner
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
suitable when the product contained in the jar has a powdery form.
The sealing bead or bead 10 can be made of an elastomer or a rubber.
The flexible strip 8 and the aforementioned bead or bead 10 can be made in one piece. In addition to the very convenient manufacturing, the fixing of the bead or bead 10 to the flexible band 8 is thus made unalterable, whatever the nature of the product contained in the pot 1.
Preferably, the height of the spout 7, which is measured from the bottom 9 thereof until the projection in its plane of symmetry of the upper edge of the strip 8 and which is represented by the reference H in the figure 2, does not exceed two thirds of the total height of the practically rectangular strip. Thus, the median zone of the strip which pierces the pouring spout retains a resistance to folding and to breaking suitable at this location.
