Abstract
Method for manufacturing diamond beads, characterised in that the acuteedges of a rough diamond are rough-shaped, the diamond obtained in thisfashion is cut in spherical form and that this spherical diamond is polishedby means of two polishing tools disposed in the extension of each other, said tools being provided with a semi-concave cavity in which the diamond isplaced for polishing and where at least one of the two tools is caused torotate.
Description
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING DIAMOND BEADS.
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing diamond beads, more particularly decorative diamond.
According to the main characteristic of this process, the sharp edges of a rough diamond are debrut, the diamond obtained in this way is cut into a spherical shape and this spherical diamond is polished between two polishing tools arranged in the extension of one of the other, where each of the tools is provided with a semi-concave hollow in which the diamond is placed and polished
by the rotary drive of at least one of the tools,
so that you get a decorative diamond bead.
By way of example, without any limiting character, below follows a more detailed description of a
mode of execution of the method according to the invention.
A rough decorative diamond is fixed by means of a diamond cement on the end of a known rod and
the sharp edges of the visible surface of the diamond are destroyed in a known manner. To debrut the edges of the other surface of the diamond, the diamond is released
diamond cement, turned upside down and fixed again with the surface already debrut on the rod, so that also the sharp edges of this other surface can be debrut. Then the broken diamond is clamped in a
mechanical dop and this dop is fixed in a machine driven in rotation. During the rotary movement of the machine, the diamond is cut into a sphere shape with
another diamond, while the cut diamond is each time moved into the mechanical dop. Finally, the spherical diamond is polished into a pearl shape using two polishing tools, such as cutters, placed in
the extension of each other. Each polishing tool is provided with a semi-concave recess and the recesses are arranged towards each other. The ends of the tools arranged towards one another are kept at a distance from each other, so that the diamond to be polished housed in the hollows of the tools can turn over in the hollows in order to be polished, when the two polishing tools are driven in reverse rotation.
It is obvious that it is also possible to rotate one of the two tools and to keep the other tool stationary.
If desired, the diamond beads can be provided with a small hole for the passage of a rope or link.
If the diamond beads have a natural defect, the defect can be removed by cutting a flat surface with the diamond bead.
