Abstract
In order to produce a coil former (5C) particularly suitable for small and safety transformers, the invention calls for several shells (5c1, 5c2, 5c3) made of electrically insulating material to be disposed one over the other in layers. Each shell is U-shaped in cross-section. In addition, each shell is dimensionally stable in the absence of a force acting on it, but changes shape elastically under the action of a force. The shells form a ring with at least one gap (18). At this gap, the ends (15) overlap.
