Abstract
A method for clearing a pipe 11 having an inlet end 11a and at least one outlet end 11b. A blowing means 12 maintains an overpressure sufficient to blow a gas, preferably air, through the pipe contents at a low flow rate. Following discharge of the pipe contents, the blowing means flushes a gas through the pipe at a lower overpressure and a higher flow rate to remove the remaining debris. Preferably a cleaning fluid is then introduced into the pipe, and after being discharged the pipe is dried <I>via</I> an adiabatic temperature increase. Also disclosed is an apparatus for clearing pipes, comprising a gas forcing means for the gas, a throttle valve, and optionally a control means and a pressure relief valve.
