Abstract

A device for measuring lengths, angles and the like comprises two components which can move relative to each other and which together form a magnetic circuit. One component comprises a sequence of alternating ridges of relatively high and relatively low magnetic conductivity, spaced at a predetermined interval apart in the direction of relative movement. The other component comprises at least one measuring element with a sensor which responds to fluctuations induced by the relative movement of the two components inthe magnetic flux produced by a magnetic flux source and guided by the magnetic circuit. In the measuring element, several partial, adjacent magnetic fluxes aligned in the direction of the mutual movement of the two components and separated in function of the spacing between the ridges jointly form a total flux and the at least one sensor is arranged and/or designed so that it emits an output signal which is a function of the sum of the partial magnetic fluxes.
