Abstract

The yarns (18) run from beams (16) through a size bath (21) and drier (23) to a splitting zone (12) where the yarns are separated by split rods (34, 36, 38, 40). A movable tensioner (45) divides the splitting zone into two regions so that the length of the region (13) containing the split rods is adjustable. The tensioner (45) is a carriage (45) running on rails (43) with three rollers (44, 46, 48) arranged with their axes at the corners of a triangle with the apex pointing downwards.
