ABSTRACT
A baby cradle comprising two triangular shaped upright members facing opposite each other. The members have a construction of hollow box section. Each of the corners of the upright members have connected thereto 4 a removable bar which is able to be locked into place.
There are three bars which separate the upright members, two of which form the base of the frame of the cradle and a third bar which braces the tops of the upright members.
A cradle is swung from two hooks, one attached to each of the upright members.
ti The cradle is easily dismantled for storage and Sis easily moveable from differing locations. One advantage r of the cradle is that the construction allows other uses t oc I TV for the frame after the baby has outgrown the initial C rn use. One such use is to use the frame to support a small O swing for a small child and another use is that the frame oo 00 can be used as a storage rack.
a0 0 o o0oo0 06 It I i t 2 The present invention relates to baby cradles, and in particular, to a baby cradle which is easily constructed and dismantled and is able to be used for other purposes.
With prices rising in relation to babie's equipment, it has become very expensive to buy all the various types of equipment on the market.
Further to this, there is the problem that with all the separate items of equipment that is able to be used in relation to babies, there is often a lack of space to store the items when not in use. As well, when the baby outgrows the equipment, there is no further use for the equipment which has a very short life span of use.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a babies cradle which overcomes the abovementioned disadvantages.
According to one aspect of the present invention there is disclosed a cradle apparatus comprising a frame having a substantially rectangular base '15 and two opposite substantially upright members, said upright members being spaced apart by a bracing bar, said base having four bars forming said rectangular base which is able to rest on a level surface, wherein said upright members are connected to corners thereof, hook means attached to said upright members and carrying means swung therefrom, wherein the carrying means is removable and said apparatus being applicable as a hanging rack.
One embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to the drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a front perspective view of the apparatus of the preferred embodiment.

!1 Fig. 2 is a side view of a swinging seat which is to be used with the apparatus of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a rack attachment which is removably attached to the frame of Fig. i.
The apparatus 1 of the preferred embodiment comprises two triangular shaped upright members 2.
Protruding upwardly from the apex 3 of the triangle is an extension piece 4 of the upright member 2.
At the corner 7 of the base 6 of the triangle 5, removable base bars 8 are receivably locked into the members 2. The two bars 8 are parallel and ensure that the upright members 2 are also parallel. The base 9 of r C the apparatus 1 is rectangular and rests on a level surface.
At the top of the extension piece 4 a removable bar 10 is receivable into an opening 11ii. The bar separates the members 2 and has the same length as the S lower bars 8.
t ,oGo Attached to the extension pieces 4 are two hooks 4 44 12 on which a cradle 13 is suspended by corresponding 2 chains 14 to each of the corners of the rectangular cradle 13. In this configuration, the apparatus 1 is stable t and the cradle 13 swings from the hooks 12.
The bars 8 are preferably secured at both ends by bolts 15. The cross section of the members 2 and bars 8 is preferably a square cross section of 25 millimetres with a thickness of 1.5 millimetres. The bar 10 is preferably a square cross section of 10 millimetres square 4 with a thickness of 1.5 millimetres.
The cradle 13 preferably has the same cross section as the bar 10 and has a canvass type fabric to be attached by secure means, for example, press-stud to the frame of the cradle 13.
Illustrated in Fig. 2 is a seat 15 with chains 16. The seat 16 can be easily attached to the hooks 12 of the apparatus 1 as an alternative use for the apparatus.
The seat 15 is used for a slightly older child.
In Fig. 3 an alternate ironing garment rack attachment 17 is illustrated which can be used to replace the bar 4 10 once a child has outgrown the cradle and the seat The foregoing describes only one embodiment of s. the present invention, and modifications obvious to those 0 a 0 at skilled in the art can be made thereto without departing from the scope of the present invention.
oo For example, castors can be provided on the corners 0 0O° o°o 0 of the upright members if required for wheeling the apparatus around.
