Abstract

This invention concerns a device for recording of three-dimensional ultrasound images which consists of: an ultrasound head (2), which can be freely moved by hand; an ultrasound recording apparatus (9); an image processing system (8); and, a position detection system (10), which includes the ultrasound head (2), an analyzing unit (7) and at least two sensors (6) in the room for detecting electromagnetic waves to the effect that the position and orientation of the ultrasound head (2) and, thus, the position and orientation of the ultrasound section images in space can be determined. This device is characterized by the fact that at least three electromagnetic wave-emitting transmitters (4) are attached to the ultrasound head (2).
