Abstract

An electrochemical measuring device, for use in glass or salt melts, has a measuring electrode with an immersion tip (11) which is made of iridium or an alloy of iridium with another precious metal and which is held gas-tightly in a heat resistant (preferably quartz glass) tube (8) through which the measuring electrode passes. Preferably, the iridium or iridium alloy is sintered or fused into the tube (8), the joint between the measuring electrode and the quartz glass tube (8) being at the immersion end of the tube (8).
