Abstract

A step trolley system to assist in the machine grinding of a concrete step vertical face in combination with a grinder. The disclosed inventive device includes two trolley bases 1 and 2 made of aluminium, with a knob between bases to adjust the tilt of the attached grinder 8, manufactured to hold a 125mm grinder positioned vertically onto trolley base at front working end of trolley with the use of aluminium clamp 5 and grinder clamp rail mount 15. The lower grinder clamp 5 is made of aluminium and is attached to the trolley base 1 designed to securely support the 125mm grinder upright in place. The grinder clamp 5 can be removed by loosening the fasteners to replace the grinder when required. The trolley has an adjustable slide rail 3 attached to manoeuvre grinder up and down to 270mm depth and rotate with pivot mount 16 and slewing block 18 from left to right at a 45-degree angle when locking pin 17 is released. A vacuum guard 7 and vacuum pipe 11 allows for dust to be extracted when attached to a vacuum system.

Description

COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT STEP TROLLEY SYSTEM
The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me:
STEP TROLLEY SYSTEM
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (0001) Currently a vertical trolley system can grind a vertical concrete edge to a depth of 100mm only. This invention has been specially devised to provide an improved grinding system that grinds to a greater depth of 270mm and capable of rotating to grind corners which will assist the operator to grind a step face quickly and easily.
(0002) At present the operator is required to hold by hand a wet grinder to machine grind the vertical face on concrete steps.
(0003) The current method to grind the concrete step face is time consuming and causes fatigue on the operators arms due to holding the grinder in
differing positions for long lengths of time to achieve a grinded edge on the concrete step face.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION (0004) This invention has been specially devised to eliminate these identified issues whilst machine grinding a concrete step face to a depth of 270mm.
(0005) The step trolley system is a trolley designed to securely hold a 125mm wet grinder in position so the attached grinder can be rolled effortlessly along the edge of the concrete step landing and the connected cup wheel on grinder can grind the entire step face with the operator sliding the step trolley systems slide rail support knob up and down to a depth of 270mm and rotating it from left to right at 45-degree angles in a fraction of the time with less fatigue on the operator and in a safer working manner.
(0006) This step trolley system has been designed for grinding concrete step faces, small concrete walls, and vertical overhangs on walls. The step trolley system is designed to hold a 125mm variable speed wet grinding with RCD.
(0007) The step trolley system is made of aluminium, steel, plastic and poly plastic parts however other materials could possibly be used such as the use of more steel components and plastic also as well as a longer sliding rail to achieve a depth greater than 270mm.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
(0008) The step trolley system can be better understood with reference to the illustrations of the invention APPENDIX 1-A:
Figure 1 is front view of the step trolley system.
Figure 2 is the back view of the step trolley system
DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
(0009) Figures 1- 2 of the drawings illustrate the step trolley system's front base 1, the back base 2, adjustable slide rail 3, the slide rail support knob 4 made of poly plastic, the grinder clamp 5 made of aluminium, grinder bracket knob 6 made of plastic. Vacuum guard 7 is made of carbon and houses a suction/vacuum pipe 11for the option of dry grinding, water tap and vacuum pipe bracket 10 made of carbon, tilt adjustment knob 8 located between front
and back bases is made of plastic and steel, a rear handle adjustment screw 9 is located at rear of back base, adjustable handle post made of steel and knob made of plastic 12, castor wheels 13 located either side of front and back base, linear bearing block 14 made of stainless steel, grinder clamp rail mount 15 made of aluminium, slewing block 18 made of aluminium, pivot pin mount 16 made of aluminium, locking pin 17 also made of aluminium.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY
(0010) The step trolley system has been invented for the concrete construction industry to assist the operator with grinding of concrete step vertical faces with the use of an attached wet grinder. The step trolley system is rolled along the concretes surface edge whilst the sliding mechanism lowers the attached wet grinder with grinding cup to grind the step face vertical face to a smooth even finish. A locking pin is released to allow the operator to move the attached grinder to a 45-degree angle to grind corners on the step vertical face also. The wet grinder requires mains power and a standard water hose connected to the water hose component on grinder to operate.
(0011) The step trolley system has been invented for wet grinding (non-suction) of step vertical faces, but an option is included with the step trolley system for dry grinding with the inclusion of a suction/vacuum pipe outlet attachment. A vacuum bag or vacuum hose not included would be required with the dry grinding option.
(0012) With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to falling within the scope of the invention.
