Abstract

The titled "Semi-automatic and Economic Blood Cross Matching Identification Device" the cross matching of the blood cells of the donor and acceptor is compared and if any agglutination of blood cells it is pronounced not compatible. And if no agglutination of cells found then it is found compatible for transfusion of blood from donor to acceptor. The device has the image capturing camera which captures the blood specimen from the sample slide and digitally compares the data with the archived data base and delivers the result based on that through the LCD display. The positive result allows the blood transfusion from donor to acceptor if fulfills all the requirements

Description

SEMI AUTOMATIC AND ECONOMIC BLOOD CROSS MATCHING IDENTIFICATION DEVICE
P.JAYAKUMAR RESEARCHSCHOLAR SATHYABAMA INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SATHYABAMA COLLEGE ROAD SEMMANCHERI CHENNAI-600119. TAMILNADU
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention related to "Semi-Automatic and Economic Blood Cross Matching Identification Device" which determines the blood results of the donor and acceptor are either compatible or not. The device provides cross matching results based on the bonding and its image morphology of the captured photo image of the blood sample slide.
DESCRIPTION OF THE RELATED ART The naming of the Blood group is an imperative test for blood transfer and innumerable medical intervention. Generally, the medical practitioner confirms blood typing and its cross matching suitability before transferring the blood from a person to another. In many hospitals and laboratories, these kinds of tests are carried out in manual using micro plate and test tube. It is time consuming, error prone and sometimes it ends up with disease infection for laboratory technicians. Moreover, there is no possibility to revisit the same test results because once after marking it they clean the entire test outcomes. To mitigate the above issues, we propose to design and develop semi-automatic and economic blood cross matching identification device. This device provides the cross matching results based on the bonding and its image morphology of the captured image. Further, it provides captured image for further reference. The device has image capturing camera which captures the image of the blood slide and the results are displayed in the LCD display .The displayed results are genuine and authentic and confirms the blood transfusion between the donor and acceptor.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The blood cross matching is very essential in any major surgery and it is a test that is performed prior to transfusing blood to determine if the donor's blood is compatible
with the recipient's blood. The process approximately takes one hour and it should be performed at least three days prior to the transfusion so that it is ready to be transfused
for the surgical patient if required. During this process human error should be eliminated as they can lead to acute and severe complications. The new device designed
to determine the cross matching status of the both donor's and acceptor's blood after
examining the cell morphology of the samples and delivers the result in the LCD display which is genuine and authentic as there is no human intervention is allowed. The device
has the closed transparent cabin with the swinging door at the front side. The small pedestal equipped with electronic slot which holds the blood samples slide is placed at
the central part of the cabin. The high resolution image capturing camera is sliding vertically driven by rotary lead screw is exactly focused on the slide cell samples till the
clear image is captured. The captured image is sent to the processor where it is programmed to deliver the result based on the already archived comparative data base
and the result is shown in the LCD display. The device designed to works on 12 volt dc
and is portable. The blood sample deck is made to slide horizontally and the sample slide is placed on the digital slot and it automatically pulls the slide and places itself at the midst of the pedestal where the image capturing camera is focusing the slide samples. The image is captured by the camera and the digital signal is amplified and fed to the processor and the programmed coding compares the image and delivers the result digitally through the LCD display.

Detailed Description of the Invention with Reference to Drawing (Fig1)
1. Main Enclosure Cabin
The entire accessories of the device are finely incorporated in a single sophisticated cabin which has the swinging door with transparent shield
protection. 2. Camera slider
The camera slider has the image capturing camera holder provision positioned to
clear focus on the sample slide with required magnification with adjustable vertical height.
3. Pedestal for placing the sample slide The sample slide of blood specimen is placed on the digital slot of the pedestal
with background LED light illumination.
4. Auto eject sliding deck The slide to be tested is placed on the digital slot and the auto eject mechanism
of the sliding deck retracts and places itself in the midst position under the focal point of the camera.
5. Main on off switch The device operates on 12volt DC voltage and the main power switch is activated
to energize the device. 6. Camera vertical slider knob
The image capturing camera can be adjusted vertically with the rotary screw rod
which is driven by geared motor with the touch of the knob either to slide up or down.
7. Digital outlet port terminal The digital data can be transferred through the outlet port terminal for storage
of data base to keep the archives of the results. 8. Rotary screw rod
The geared motor drives the screw rod for vertical sliding of the column. 9. LCD display
The processed results are shown in the LCD display which is fixed atop the
device. ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION
• The cross matching blood test report device captures the content from slides and compares it with the database and produces the output based on that.
Hence if the result is recalled it is possible to retrieve the results since all the results are stored in the data base which is not possible in the manual cross match testing procedure. • The entire device is made as portable and works on 12 volt DC. • The device has the closed transparent cabin and hence the inside accessories are safe and secure and free from dust. • The high resolution camera captures the image and hence the result is accurate and genuine since no manual intervention is needed. • The auto slider deck of the device ejects outside the cabin and once the sample slide to be tested is placed it retracts itself automatically without the need of touch with hands.
