Abstract
CSU Compact Sterilisation Unit A two directional pass through drawer system 101 that allows contents placed in that drawer to pass through an open ended outer case 112 containing both an upper and lower germicidal grade Ultraviolet (UV) light source 102, 109, preferably UV C LED lights, but is not restricted to the type of Ultraviolet lights nor the quantity used. The light source is reflected throughout the internal case structure by way of inbuilt reflective material (Mirror, Polished stainless steel etc) 103, 105. The drawer is constructed with a transparent base to allow the Ultraviolet light source to encompass all item surfaces to be sterilised 110. The two way drawer system 101 allows both customer and retailer to transfer, without contact, currency, goods and any item that requires sterilisation to lower the risk and eliminate transfer of bacteria, viruses and fungi between humans. The intensity of the Ultraviolet light source is in close proximity to the items in the drawer thus allowing maximum efficiency for the sterilisation to occur when passed through the Compact Sterilisation Unit, It is suggested that the sterilisation time will be 3 Seconds. Description
DESCRIPTION
A two directional pass through drawer system 101 that allows contents placed in that drawer to pass through an open ended outer case 112 containing both an upper and lower germicidal grade Ultraviolet (UV) light source 102, 109, preferably UV C LED lights, but is not restricted to the type of Ultraviolet lights nor the quantity used.
The operation
The Compact Sterilisation Unit can be placed on a counter top, bench or bank teller station or wherever sterilisation needs to be performed with no contact between the customer and employee. In the instance of a cash transaction being performed, the customer would open the tray by way of the push/pull handle 111 and place the cash (notes/coins) within the drawer and close. At this time the UV light source is automatically switched on by way of a sensor switch 114, 115. Once the drawer is in the closed position an ON light is displayed for 3 seconds at each end of the unit 113 to indicate that sterilisation is in progress, (the time of sterilisation can vary dependant on the quantity and type of the Ultraviolet light source, which can be adjusted to suit the configuration). Once the sterilisation process is complete, the OFF light is displayed, and the Ultraviolet lights automatically turn off. (An audible beep can also denote that sterilisation is complete). The employee would then pull out the drawer by using the push/pull handle on their side 116 and accept the cash. The process is repeated in reverse if change is given.
A power on off switch is located at one end (employee end) when not in usel05.
The Invention known as CSU (Compact Sterilisation Unit) has been designed as a manual operation with minimal working parts and to be cost effective. The Compact Sterilisation Unit can also operate by way of a motorised drawer system to transport the drawer through the unit. The Compact Sterilisation Unit can be battery operated (rechargeable) or mains power operation.
The side panel on the case body 106 can be removed for access to wiring and adjustable timer switch gear 117.
With the current COVID 19 pandemic, which has thrust the world into a state of continual personal sanitising and social distancing, the CSU (Compact Sterilisation Unit) will no doubt be a tremendous help in containing the spread of transmitted diseases through the transfer of currency and other items, by reducing and eliminating bacteria and viruses found on these surfaces.

Claims (12)
1. A compact sterilisation system for the safe transfer of currency and other items (claim 10) that require sterilisation to lower the risk and eliminate the transfer of bacteria, viruses and fungi between humans without contact.
2. A Sterilisation unit consisting of an outer casing, inner drawer and an automatic Ultraviolet sterilisation system.
3. A two directional pass through drawer system that allows contents placed in the drawer to pass through an outer case containing both an upper and a lower germicidal Ultraviolet light source that is reflected throughout the internal case structure by way of an inbuilt reflective material (mirror, polished stainless steel etc).
4. The drawer is constructed with a transparent base to allow the Ultraviolet light to encompass all item surfaces in the drawer to be sterilised.
5. The Ultraviolet light source is automatically switched on by way of a sensor switch when the drawer is in the closed position, and automatically switches off when the drawer begins to open. This procedure operates from either end.
6. An ON light is displayed for 3 seconds at both ends of the unit (the time of sterilisation can vary dependant on the quantity and type of Ultraviolet light source, which can be adjusted to suit the configuration by way of a timer sensor). Once the sterilisation process is complete, an OFF light is displayed at both ends of the unit and power is cut to the Ultraviolet light source. The drawer can then be pulled out in the other direction, so the cash or other items can be accepted. The process is repeated in reverse if change is given.
7. The Invention known as CSU (Compact Sterilisation Unit) has been designed as a manual operation with minimal working parts and to be cost effective.
8. The Compact Sterilisation Unit can also operate by way of a motorised drawer system to transport the drawer through the unit using the time configuration for sterilisation.
9. The Compact sterilisation Unit can be battery operated (rechargeable) or mains power operation.
10. The Compact Sterilisation Unit can accept numerous items for sterilisation wherever the threat of possible contamination is evident through the transfer of items from person to person. E.g.: currency notes and coins, hotel room keys, etc, and is not restricted to individual items.
11. The Compact Sterilisation Unit can be produced in any size to accommodate the intended use in various outlets, institutions or personal use.
12. The Compact Sterilisation Unit can also operate as a single directional drawer system that is suitable for personal use or when the two directional drawer system is not required.
