Abstract

A safety device is installed between a wall and a scrolling door, and connected with a clutch. The safety device includes a frame, a lock and a control member. SAFETY DEVICE FOR SCROLLING DOOR
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a safety device for scrolling door,
the scrolling door is able to be opened in emergent situations.
Background Art Discussion
The conventional scrolling doors are used for business sites and
can be opened and closed by motors. When the electrical power cannot be
normally supplied, the users are difficult to manually open the scrolling
doors due to the brake function of the motors. In some emergent situations,
the scrolling doors with fail motors may impede evacuation and cause
people injuries.
Some of the scrolling doors are cooperated with a clutch which
can switch the electrical operation mode into the manual operation mode, so
that when in emergent situations, the users can switch to the manual
operation mode and successfully open the scrolling doors. However, the
clutch usually is installed to either an indoor position or an outdoor position, that is to say, only the people who can access the clutch can switch the electrical operation mode into the manual operation mode.
A latest safety device is installed to the wall and allows the users
to open the scrolling door either from outside or inside positions. However,
the safety device has to drill a hole through the wall, and this needs to be
further improved.
The present invention intends to provide a safety device for a
scrolling door, and which improves the shortcomings of the conventional
safety devices.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a safety device for a scrolling door.
The safety device is installed between the wall and the scrolling door, and
connected with a clutch. The safety device comprises a frame, a lock and a
control member. The lock is connected to outside of the frame. A first cable
has the first end thereof connected to the lock, and the second of the first
cable is connected to the clutch. The lock controls the clutch to activate the
manual operation mode or the electrical operation mode.
The control member is connected to inside of the frame and has a
housing, a transmission unit and a control unit. The housing includes the first side thereof connected to the frame, and a room is defined in the housing. An opening is defined through the second side of the housing and communicates with the room. The control unit includes a push button and a press button, wherein the push button is pivotably located at the opening, and partially located in the room and partially located beyond the opening.
The press button is located on the top of the housing and connected to the
push button when the push button is pivoted toward the room.
The transmission unit is pivotably located in the room and located
below the press button. The transmission unit includes a first part and a
second part, wherein the mediate portion of the first part is pivotably
connected to the mediate portion of the second part. A link is pivotably
connected between the first end of the first part and the push button. A
block protrudes from the first part and is located between the first end of the
first part and the first end of the second part. The second end of the second
part includes a notch. A second cable is connected between the notch and
the clutch. When the push button is pushed toward the room, the first part is
pivoted by the link, and the block pushes the first end of the second part
which drives the second cable to activate the clutch so that the scrolling
door is able to be opened manually.
The present invention will become more apparent from the
following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is a perspective view to show the safety device of the
present invention;
Fig. 2 is another perspective view to show the safety device of the
present invention;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view to show the inside of the safety device
of the present invention;
Fig. 4 is an exploded view of the safety device of the present
invention;
Fig. 5 shows that the safety device is installed between the wall
and the scrolling door, and connected with a clutch;
Fig. 6 is another view of the disclosure in Fig. 5;
Fig. 7 shows that the push button of the safety device is to be
pushed;
Fig. 8 shows that the push button of the safety device is pushed;
Fig. 9 shows that the press button is engaged with the push button
when the push button is pushed, and
Fig. 10 shows that the press button is disengaged from the push
button when the press button is pressed.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Referring to Figs. 1 to 6, the safety device of the present invention
is installed between the wall 10 and the scrolling door 20, and connected
with a clutch 30. The safety device comprises a frame 1, a lock 2 and a
control member 3. The frame 1 includes a first groove 11 and two second
grooves 12 which are independently located on two sides of the first groove
11. The first groove 11 accommodates the scrolling door 20 therein. The
two second grooves 12 are respectively located at an indoor position and an
outdoor position. The lock 2 is located on outside of the second groove 12
that is located at the outdoor position. The lock 2 is connected to outside of
the frame 1. A first cable 21 has the first end thereof connected to the lock 2,
and the second of the first cable 21 is connected to the clutch 30. The first
cable 21 is located in the second groove 12 that is located at the indoor
position. The lock 2 controls the clutch 30 to activate the manual operation
mode or the electrical operation mode.
The control member 3 is connected to inside of the frame 1 and
has a housing 31, a transmission unit 32 and a control unit 33. The housing
31 includes the first side thereof connected to the frame 1, and a room 311
is defined in the housing 31. An opening 312 is defined through the second
side of the housing 31 and communicates with the room 311. The control
unit 33 includes a push button 331 and a press button 332, wherein the push
button 331 is pivotably located at the opening 312, and partially located in
the room 311 and partially located beyond the opening 312. Specially, the
push button 331 is pivotably connected to the housing 31 by extending a
pivot 37 through a tubular part 38 (Fig. 4) of the push button 331 to be
connected to the housing 31. The press button 332 is located on the top of
the housing 31.
The transmission unit 32 is pivotably located in the room 311 and
located below the press button 332. The transmission unit 32 includes a first
part 321 and a second part 322. The mediate portion of the first part 321 is
pivotably connected to the mediate portion of the second part 322. A link 4
is pivotably connected between the first end of the first part 321 and the
push button 331. A block 5 protrudes from the first part 321 and is located
between the first end of the first part 321 and the first end of the second part
322. The second end of the second part 322 includes a notch 333. A second
cable 6 is connected between the notch 333 and the clutch 30. The control
member 3 and the second cable 6 are located outside of the second groove
12 that is located at the indoor position.
Specifically, the push button 331 includes another pivot 39, and
one end of the link 4 is pivotably connected to the pivot 39. A first torsion
spring 9 is mounted to the pivot 39 and located between the link 4 and the
push button 331. The first torsion spring 9 brings the push button 331
backward when the push button 331is released. A second rod 41 extends
from the inside of the room 311 and the press button 332 is mounted to the
second rod 41. The press button 332 includes a press portion 341 and a
hooking portion 342, wherein the press portion 341 is exposed beyond the
housing 31.
The first part 321 includes a push portion 7 on the first end and a
restriction portion 8 on the second end thereof. The block 5 and the link 4
are connected to the push portion 7. A recessed area 81 is defined in one
side of the restriction portion 8 and faces a first rod 34 extending from an
inside of the room 311. The first rod 34 contacts the recessed area 81 when
the push button 331 is not pushed. The second part 322 includes a
protrusion 35 on the first end thereof and a lower portion 36 on the second
end thereof. The notch 333 is defined in the lower portion 36 which pulls
the second cable 6 to control the clutch 30.
As shown in Figs. 7 to 10, when the push button 331 is pushed
toward the room 311, the first part 321 is pivoted by the link 4, and the
block 5 pushes the protrusion 35 of the first end of the second part 322 and the protrusion 35 is stopped by the first rod 34, and the lower portion 36 of the second part 322 drives the second cable 6 to activate the clutch 30 so that the scrolling door 20 is able to be opened manually. Specifically, when the push button 331 is pushed toward the room 311, the link 4 pivots the first part 321, and the recessed area 81 is moved away from the first rod 34, so that the block 5 and the push portion 7 pivots the second part 322. The hooking portion 342 hooks to an engaging portion 343 of the push button
331 when the push button 331 is pushed toward the room 311 as shown in
Fig. 9. This ensures that the push button 331 is positioned in the room 311,
and also ensures that the second cable 6 is correctly activate the clutch 30 so
that the motor does not activate the scrolling door 20, and the scrolling door
20 can be opened manually. It is noted that a second torsion spring 91 is
mounted to the second rod 41 and includes two distal ends 911 and a
mediate section 912. The two distal ends 911 are mounted to the second rod
41, and the mediate section 912 contacts the top of the hooking portion 342.
The second torsion spring 91 keeps the hooking portion 342 at a position so
that the hooking portion 342 is able to hook the engaging portion 343,
which is an aperture, of the push button 332.
The use of the frame 1 can avoid drilling a hole through the wall
10, and the control member 3, the first and second cables 21, 6 are well
positioned in the frame 1.The lock 2 and the control member 3 are easily to be installed. The users can manually open the scrolling door 20 from inside or outside of the building.

Claims (6)

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:
1. A safety device installed between a wall (10) and a scrolling
door (20), and connected with a clutch (30), the safety device comprising:
a frame (1);
a lock (2) connected to an outside of the frame (1), a first cable
(21) having a first end connected to the lock (2), a second of the first cable
(21) adapted to connected to the clutch (30), the lock (2) adapted to control
the clutch (30) to activate a manual operation mode or an electrical
operation mode;
a control member (3) connected to an inside of the frame (1) and
having a housing (31), a transmission unit (32) and a control unit (33), the
housing (31) having a first side connected to the frame (1) and a room (311)
defined in the housing (31), an opening (312) defined through a second side
of the housing (31) and communicating with the room (311), the control
unit (33) having a push button (331) and a press button (332), the push
button (331) pivotably located at the opening (312), the push button (331)
partially located in the room (311) and partially located beyond the opening
(312), the press button (332) located on a top of the housing (31) and
connected to the push button (331) when the push button (331) is pivoted
toward the room (311), and the transmission unit (32) pivotably located in the room (311) and located below the press button (332), the transmission unit (32) having a first part (321) and a second part (322), a mediate portion of the first part
(321) pivotably connected to a mediate portion of the second part (322), a
link (4) pivotably connected between a first end of the first part (321) and
the push button (331), a block (5) protruding from the first part (321) and
located between the first end of the first part (321) and a first end of the
second part (322), a second end of the second part (322) having a notch
(333), a second cable (6) connected between the notch (333) and the clutch
(30), when the push button (331) is pushed toward the room (311), the first
part (321) is pivoted by the link (4), and the block (5) pushes the first end of
the second part (322) which drives the second cable (6) to activate the
clutch (30) so that the scrolling door (20) is able to be opened manually.
2. The safety device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first part
(321) includes a push portion (7) on the first end and a restriction portion (8)
on a second end thereof, the block (5) and the link (4) are connected to the
push portion (7), a recessed area (81) is defined in one side of the restriction
portion (8) and faces a first rod (34) extending from an inside of the room
(311), the first rod (34) contacts the recessed area (81) when the push button
(331) is not pushed, when the push button (331) is pushed toward the room
(311), the link (4) pivots the first part (321), and the recessed area (81) is moved away from the first rod (34), such that the block (5) and the push portion (7) pivots the second part (322).
3. The safety device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the push
button (331) includes a pivot (39), one end of the link (4) is pivotably
connected to the pivot (39), a first torsion spring (9) is mounted to the pivot
(39) and located between the link (4) and the push button (331), the torsion
spring (39) brings the push button (331) backward when the push button
(331) is released.
4. The safety device as claimed in claim 3, wherein a second rod
(41) extends from the inside of the room (311) and the press button (332) is
mounted to the second rod (41), the press button (332) includes a press
portion (341) and a hooking portion (342), the press portion (341) is
exposed beyond the housing (31), the hooking portion (342) hooks to an
engaging portion (343) of the push button (331) when the push button (331)
is pushed toward the room (311), a second torsion spring (9) is mounted to
the second rod (41) and includes two distal ends (911) and a mediate section
(912), the two distal ends (911) are mounted to the second rod (41), the
mediate section (912) contacts a top of the hooking portion (342).
5. The safety device as claimed in claim 4, wherein the second
part (322) includes a protrusion (35) on the first end thereof and a lower
portion (36) on the second end thereof, the protrusion (35) is pushed by the block (5) and contacts the first rod (34) when the push button (331) is pushed toward the room (311), the notch (333) is defined in the lower portion (36), the lower portion (36) pulls the second cable (6) to be adapted to control the clutch (30).
6. The safety device as claimed in claim 5, wherein the frame (1)
includes a first groove (11) and two second grooves (12) which are
independently located on two sides of the first groove (11), the first groove
(11) is adapted to accommodate the scrolling door (20), the two second
grooves (12) are respectively located at an indoor position and an outdoor
position, the lock (2) is located on outside of the second groove (12) that is
located at the outdoor position, the first cable (21) is located in the second
groove (12) that is located at the indoor position, the control member (3)
and the second cable (6) are located outside of the second groove (12) that
is located at the indoor position.
