A PRODUCT DISPLAY ASSEMBLY TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention generally relates to a product display. The present invention has particular, although not exclusive application to retail gondola displays.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The reference to any prior art in this specification is not, and should not be taken as an acknowledgement or any form of suggestion that the prior art forms part of the common general knowledge.
[0003] A gondola display is a freestanding fixture used by retailers to display products for sale. Gondolas typically consist of a flat base and a vertical component featuring notches, pegboards, or slat walls. The vertical piece can be fitted with shelves, hooks, or other displays. Gondolas placed end-to-end can form rows of shelving while stand-alone gondolas tend to be used for special themed displays. A gondola placed perpendicular to the end of a row of other gondolas can be used as an endcap.
[0004] In practice, gondola displays are time intensive to assemble, taking typically in excess of 25 minutes to assemble from a flat pack.
[0005] The preferred embodiment provides a gondola display which is faster to assemble.
[0006] Furthermore, temporary gondola displays are usually printed with advertising relating to the products which they display. Accordingly, the displays are discarded once the products are sold out which can be wasteful.
[0007] The preferred embodiment provides a gondola display less prone to wastage. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[00028] According to an embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a product display assembly 100 as shown in figure 1. The assembly 100 includes a product display 102 including internal retainers in the form of clips 104 and shelves 106. A pair of replaceable covers 108 is retained by these retainers when covering the display 102. The covers 108 include promotional information relating to products on display in the assembly 100.
[00029] Advantageously, each cover 108 can be readily replaced, when a product sells out, by another cover 108 pertaining to new products displayed in the same display 106, thereby resulting in reuse of the display 106 and less wastage. The internal 5 2016101738 30 Sep 2016 retainers are inconspicuous so as to improve the visual appearance of the overall assembly 100 and unobtrusive so as to avoid inadvertent catching.
[00030] Each cover 108 includes apertures 110 through which the shelves 106 can pass. Each shelf 106 is formed from a folded sheet. The cover 108 is also formed from a folded sheet and defines foldable tabs 112 for being folded to be received within the display 102.
[00031 ] The display 102 includes a generally U-shaped wall 114 which receives the inserted shelves 106. The wall 114 is also formed from a single sheet and folded to define side and rear panels. The display 102 is also disposable and temporary, being substantially formed from cardboard. The display 102 further includes a releasable foot panel 116.
[00032] A method of dressing up the product display 102 is now briefly described.
