Description

TAN POCKET
Description
Given the prevalence of artificial tanning products, consumers are frequently applying cosmetic products on their skin to enhance the darkness of their skin tone, before sleeping overnight in their bedding to enable the tanning products to develop on their skin. The Tan Pocket was invented to address a variety of complaints from consumers of artificial tan products, including:- • Stains, marks and residue being left on sheets after use of artificial tan; • Sheets retaining odour after the use of artificial tan; • Sleeping partners of consumers being subject to stained/odorous sheets; • Having to change sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers after use as a result of the above complaints; • Being uncomfortable in other sheet protector alternatives, that resemble a ‘sleeping bag’ and are difficult to get in to and become tangled easily.
This invention has been specifically engineered to provide consumers with a convenient and customised sleeping “pocket”, which is designed to fit and attach perfectly to existing bedding, without disturbing it, to protect bedding from the stains of fake tanning as the consumer is comfortably contained within the “pocket”, and negating the need for artificial tan consumers to change and launder their existing bedding after each application.
Thought has also been given to how the consumer may sleep - including on the right or left side of a double bed (or larger), or in a single bed. The design facilitates the consumer installing the Tan Pocket on either side of the bed or across a single bed.
Technical features that are essential to the way the invention works The Tan Pocket in accordance with this invention comprises a sewn piece of fabric with dimensions appropriate to universally act as both a fitted bottom sheet, and top sheet with sufficient design aspects to enable the top sheet to be folded over the top of the existing bedding. In particular and in terms of the design:- • The outside edge, top edge and bottom edge of the base of the “pocket’Vproduct tucks around the mattress; • The inside edge of the base/bottom panel of the “pocket”/product connects to the inside edge of the top panel of the “pocket’Vproduct; • The top panel reaches to the end of the mattress at the bottom edge; and • The top panel folds over the existing duvet on the top edge.
The Tan Pocket design is specific in that it is suitable to fit a single bed, as well as either side of a double, queen or king bed - because the product can be altered to fit the consumer’s bedding.
As an alternate use, it is envisaged that the Tan Pocket can be marketed for a reverse purpose, namely to protect the consumer from sheets and duvets/doonas when they are travelling or sleeping in unfamiliar accommodation/bedding. The design and dimensions for this purpose remain the same for this purpose.
Dimensions of the invention
The dimensions of the Tan Pocket are best depicted in Figure 1. but in summary, comprise:- 1. The base panel - H 2100mm x W 1100m 2. The top panel - H 2100mm x W 1200mm 3. The side panel (on side) - H 2100mm x W 400mm 4. The side panels (on top) - H 400 mm x W 1100mm
As referred to above, the Tan Pocket can feature a set of two or three button and buttonholes at either end of the seam between the top panel and the base/bottom panel, to allow the Tan Pocket to be reversible on either side of the bed, or used on a single bed.
The invention may be better understood by referring to the illustrations of the embodiments of the invention as follows:
Figure 2 shows the basic design of the Tan Pocket, if it were laid out on a flat surface.
Figure 3 shows the Tan Pocket installed on a bed, over a fitted bottom sheet. The grey shading represents the Tan Pocket.

Claims (3)

  1. Claims
    1. A fabric product for protection of sheets and duvets from artificial tanning products worn by the consumer which fits and attaches to existing bedding, with the dimensions of said fabric being compatible with all bed sizes and sides, wherein:- the outside edge, top edge and bottom edge of the base of the “pocket’Vproduct tucks around the mattress, the inside edge of the base of the “pocket’Vproduct connects to the inside edge of the top panel of the “pocket”/product, and the top panel reaches to the end of the mattress at the bottom edge, and the top panel folds over the existing duvet on the top edge, meaning that all surface areas of the consumer’s existing bedding are protected.
  2. 2. The fabric product claimed in Paragraph 1, with alteration features (such as button and button holes) at either end of the seam that connects the bottom/base panel with the top panel, to enable the fabric product claimed in Paragraph 1 to be rotated one hundred and eighty degrees (180°) to so that either end may serve as the top flap to fold over the consumer’s existing bedding (buttons open) and either end may serve as the bottom of the pocket to constrain the consumer’s feet and legs from rubbing on existing bedding (buttons fastened).
  3. 3. A fabric product for use when sleeping, to shield the consumer from the existing bedding and shield the existing bedding from the consumer, which fits and attaches to existing bedding, with the dimensions of said fabric being compatible with all bed sizes and sides, wherein:- the outside edge, top edge and bottom edge of the base of the “pocket”/product tucks around the mattress, the inside edge of the base of the “pocket”/product connects to the inside edge of the top panel of the “pocket”/product, and the top flap reaches to the end of the mattress at the bottom edge, and the top flop folds over the existing duvet on the top edge, meaning that all surface areas of the consumer’s existing bedding are protected
