Description
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[0001] Traditional bedclothes, including fitted sheets, flat sheets, pillowcases, quilt covers and etc., can be made with various materials, either natural or artificial. However, no matter what kind of fibre they use, the cloth is always flat woven, which means the absorbing ability of bedding surfaces are quite limited.
[0002] For some heavily sweating people, or those with night sweats problems, a single night's sleep can make their bedclothes soaky all over, and hence affect their sleeping quality. This problem is worse for naked sleepers, but even for people in sleepwear, the sweaty pillows are also very unpleasant experiences. If the bedclothes are not changed frequently enough, the sweat can easily saturate the bedclothes, leaving not only ugly yellow marks and smells on the inner pillow and quilt, but also a cultivation medium for bacterias and dust mites.
[0003] Moreover, as everyone may have experienced countless times, the moist in bed sheets creates a cold feeling when people slip into bed, especially in winter time. This force people to turn to heating blankets, which is not only energy consuming, but also a great fire hazard.
[0004] Common solutions targeting this problem are using more absorbent fibres like high-quality cotton, or thicker fabrics. These practices increased the price of bedclothes and difficulty to wash, but the improvements in fighting sweat are quite limited.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0005] The present invention seeks to provide a solution to these problems by providing bedclothes made with towel texture fabrics, either terry cloth or velour towel (hereinafter the word “towel” can mean either of these two types of towel), instead of traditional flat woven fabrics. The fibres that make up the towels can be various. What does greatly improve the bedding's absorbency is the feature of the towel texture.
[0006] A pillowcase with thick towel surfaces can easily absorb a user's sweat for the entire night, and dries faster in air during the day. Moreover, the depth of the fabric can effectively prevent sweat from soaking into the inner pillow, which not only prevents sweat marks, but also isolate dust mites from the pillow. The towel surfaces of the qulit cover/sheets protect the quilt/blanket/mattress the same way, in the meanwhile of providing a drier sleeping environment.
[0007] Besides dryness and protection, warmth is another advantage the towel bedclothes can offer. The thickness of the linens simply adds to the warm keeping ability of the beddings. The excellent thermal insulation feature of towel also reduces the cold feeling by a large extent when people first slip into bed in cold winter nights. The users do not need to wait till the bed warms up before they can comfortably fall asleep. The towel bedclothes feel just moderate on first contact with skin. However, the towel bedclothes are not only to be used in winter. In warm seasons, the quilt cover or sheet can be used just on its own as a thin but absorbent blanket.
[0008] Preferrably, the thicknesses of towels used in the bedclothes vary depending on sizes and actual needs, mainly in the purpose of washing convenience. For example, the pillowcases can be made with thicker towels then the quilt cover, because pillow sized towels are not difficult to wash, but a quilt sized thick towel would be quite heavy to handle, especially when wet. Thus the quilt cover and sheets need to use thinner towels. Moreover, in daily use, the pillowcases get contact to more sweat than sheets. This is determined by locations of sweaty areas on human body, which also requires the pillowcases to be made with thicker towels than quilt covers and sheets.
[0009] The towel bedclothes do not need to be made entirely with towel material. Alternatively, the quilt covers and pillowcases can be made with all kinds of traditional flat woven fabric on the top side/outside, and towel on the bottom side/inside. This double-sided design take into consideration both appearance and practical funtion. A user can leave the pillow flat side up during the day to make the bed look better, and turn it around to enjoy the absorbent side at night. There can also be a towel lining area along the top side of the quilt cover (as illustrated in Figure 11) to absorb the user's neck and armpit sweat. The towel bedclothes do not conflict with the traditional ones at all. They can be perfectly combined for the users to enjoy the advantage of both.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] As bedclothes can be of various sizes, the drawings are just demonstrations of ideas, not to actual scale.
[0011] Figure 1 shows a typical towel pillowcase, which is a pillow sized towel pocket with sealable opening at one end.
[0012] Figure 2 to Figure 5 show how the pillowcase can be sealed.
[0013] Figure 2 demonstrates a towel pillowcase with strings on both edges of the opeing that can be tied.
[0014] Figure 3 demonstrates a buttoned towel pillowcase.
[0015] Figure 4 demonstrates a zipped towel pillowcase.
[0016] Figure 5 demonstrates a pillowcase with extra overlapping cloth at the opening.
[0017] In general, the towel pillowcases are quite like regular ones in structure. The only difference is the material they use.
[0018] Figure 6 is a cutaway view of a towel pillowcase, with a pillow inside. In this figure both the top and bottom sides are made with towel fabric.
[0019] Figure 7 is an optional form of towel pillowcase, with towel material just used on the bottom side. The top side can be various fabric of choice to make the bed good-looking during the day. This dual-side design combines both practical and decrative functions.
[0020] Figure 8 is a demonstration of a towel quilt cover, which can be sealed pretty much the same way with towel pillowcases and its regular counterparts. So the details of the quilt cover opening are not illustrated separetely.
[0021] Figure 9 and Figure 10 are cutaway views to show that the quilt cover can be made with towel on both sides, or towel on one side, and other fabrics on the other side, just like the towel pillowcases.
[0022] Figure 11 is an improved version of towel quilt cover basing on Figure 10, which has a regular fabric top side, a towel bottom side, as well as a towel lining of a certain width along the top edge of the quilt cover in order to absorb neck and armpit sweat. Many combinations of towel and other fabrics can be derived according to different needs, which cannot be illustrated one by one. Here is just an example.
[0023] Figure 12 shows a towel flat sheet, with not much special designs except for the material used.
[0024] Figure 13 shows a towel fitted sheet, which is a towel flat sheet tailored to fit the shape of a mattress.
[0025] Figure 14 is the bottom view of the towel fitted sheet, showing the elastic band or drawstring attached to the edge to keep the sheet in place. A towel fitted sheet is not much different with its regular counterparts except for the material used.
