Abstract
The disclosed piece of footwear comprises of two separate parts, the first part is a shoe or boot style slipper section 1 with a soft sole. Embedded in the sole are two thin magnets 9 and 10, one placed near the heel and one placed near the toe section of the slipper. The second part is a flexible sole section 2 that has a treaded sole (see Fig 3), two grooves 3 for added flexibility and two magnets 4 and 5. One magnet 4 is embedded in the toe area of the sole and the other magnet 5 is embedded in the heel area of the sole. Magnets 4 and 10 are orientated as such that when in the vicinity of each other they attract and connect. Magnets 5 and 9 are orientated as such that when in the vicinity of each other they attract and connect. When wearing the upper slipper 1, the wearer places the upper slipper section 1 slightly above (approx 1 - 3 centimetres) the flexible sole section 2 and aligns the magnets 4, 5, 9, 10. Once aligned the magnets attract and the flexible sole section 2 attaches to the upper slipper 1. The wearer can also step directly on to the flexible sole section 2 where the magnets will attract and the flexible sole section 2 will then attach to the upper slipper section 1. To separate the upper slipper section from the flexible sole section 2, the wearer steps on the back of flexible sole section 2 with their opposite foot and then steps forward which breaks the magnetic connection and separates the flexible sole section 2 from the upper slipper section 1. Description
EDITORIAL NOTE 2014100246 There are two pages of description only 1 SLIPPER WITH ATTACHABLE/DETACHABLE SOLE FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates generally to either shoe or boot style slippers. It should be understood however that the invention is intended for broader application and use. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0001] Most slippers, be it in a shoe or boot style, with a hardened rubber sole can be worn outside but are not comfortable enough to wear inside while relaxing on furniture such as a couch or lounge. The hardened sole can be abrasive to delicate fabrics and wood. Also if you have worn your slippers outside it is possible to bring dust, dirt or mud inside your house and transfer it on to your floors and furniture. [0002] This invention allows the wearer to wear a comfortable shoe or boot style slipper with a soft sole indoors with their feet up on their furniture. When the wearer is required to go outdoors and walk on dirty, wet or muddy ground they simply move the slipper over the detached sole, the sole then connects to the upper slipper, by way of magnets. The wearer is not required to reach down or bend to attach the sole. The wearer can walk outdoors on dirty, wet or muddy ground without getting the upper slipper dirty or wet. When the wearer is required to move back indoors they simply step on the back of the sole placing pressure on the sole and step forward, the upper slipper then detaches from the sole. The wearer is not required to reach down or bend to detach the sole. The wearer can then comfortably return to sitting on the couch without dirtying the inside floors or furniture. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention which: Figure 1 is a side profile with the sole section separated from the upper slipper section. It also shows the positioning of two magnets embedded in the sole; Figure 2 is an elevation of the top of the sole section, which shows the positioning of the two magnets embedded in the sole; Figure 3 is an elevation of the bottom of the sole section, which shows two grooves in the sole for improved flexibility; Figure 4 is a side profile of the various layers of the upper slipper section, which shows the upper slipper section, the inner sole section, a thin piece of foam, two thin magnets and the thin leather sole of the upper slipper section; and Figure 5 is an elevation of the bottom of the upper slipper section, which shows the positioning of the two thin embedded magnets.
Claims (3)
1. An upper slipper section is a shoe or boot shaped slipper made of sheepskin or a similar material. The inside of the upper slipper section is lined with sheep's wool or a similar material. The bottom of the upper slipper section is made up of three layers. The first layer is the inner sole which is made of sheep's wool or a similar material, the next layer is a thin piece of foam or similar material that is used to add cushion from two thin magnets, one is placed in the ball/toe area and one in the heel area. The north pole of the magnet in the heel area will face down and is then adhered to the thin piece foam. The south pole of magnet the magnet in the ball/toe area will face down and is then adhered to the thin piece foam. A thin piece of leather or similar material is attached to the upper slipper section to seal all the layers in to place.
2. A sole section is made of flexible rubber or similar material approximately 2 centimetres in thickness. The bottom of the sole section has two grooves or channels to add overall flexibility of the sole. The sole section has a treaded bottom. Two magnets are embedded in the sole section, one is placed in the ball/toe area and one in the heel area. The two magnets are positioned close to the upper surface of the sole. The south pole of the magnet in the heel area will face up. The north pole of the magnet in the ball/toe area will face up.
3. When the upper slipper section of claim 1 is placed approx 1 - 3 centimetres above the sole section of claim 2 and the magnets referred to in claim 1 and 2 are aligned, the sole section of claim 2 will attach to the upper slipper section of claim 1.
