Abstract
A football boot comprises an outer 3 and inner 4 sole whereby the outer sole 3 is detachably attached to the inner sole 4 should the wearer receive an impact and the studs 2 attached to the outer sole 3 remain firmly anchored in the ground, thereby preventing the wearer's foot, ankle or leg from being injured when tackled. The fastening means may be hook and loop 5, press studs, magnets, cord, weak stitching, suction, glue or a combination of fastening means. The outer sole 3 may have extensions on the heel 8, toe 8 and sides to prevent the outer sole from being dislodged prematurely. The inner 4 and outer 3 sole may have corresponding raised and recessed areas to allow the outer and inner sole to mesh together.
Description
Intellectual Property Office mm For Creetity and Innovation Application No. GB0807538.4 RTM Date:20 August 2008 The following terms are registered trademarks and should be read as such wherever they occur in this document: Velcro UK Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of The Patent Office Football boot This invention relates to a detachable football boot.
When playing football, there is a risk of players being injured, when one player tackles another. There have been many instances of injury when a player has connected with his/her boot/s onto another player's boot/ankle/leg. Serious injury can occur when a player's studs are firmly in the ground, anchoring the boot and hence player's foot, when a tackle of force hits the boot/ankle/leg, the studs may stop the foot/ boot/leg from being pushed out of the way, which would help diminish the impact, instead the player's foot/ankle/leg would take the full impact.
To help overcome this, the present invention proposed an outer sole of a football boot that can become detached from an inner sole of a football boot, when a severe impact hits the player's boot/ankle/leg.
The rest of the boot with integral inner sole may be attached to the outer sole containing studs, by velcro, magnets, glue, pop studs, weak stitching, or by cord, or a combination of these, or by any suitable means, as long as when a severe impact hits the boot/ankle/leg of a player, it detaches itself from the outer sole, if the studs are firmly anchored in the ground, helping to reduce injury.
The outer sole would preferable have extensions on the front and the rear of the boot to help ensure the outer sole is not dislodge by a less than a hard tackle.
The inner and outer sole may have conesponding raised and recessed areas that allow the inner and outer sole to mesh together.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a side view of a detachable football boot. The integral inner sole and boot is attached to the outer sole by velcro and cord.
Figure 2 shows a detachable football boot with raised extensions on the front and back of the outer sole.
Figure 3 shows a player's leg in a detachable football boot. Another player has tackled his/her and their boot has connected with severe force onto the side of the player's detachable boot. The outer sole's studs have remained firmly in the ground, and the inner sole with the rest of the boot has detached from the outer sole.
In figure 1, the outer sole 3 and integral inner sole 4 have Velcro 5 attached between them, which attaches them together, plus cord 12 attached on the side of the inner sole 4 and outer sole 3. A player could run and kick a football and the inner sole and outer sole would remain together, but if the player suffered a severe blow to his boot/ankle/leg the force of the impact would cause the cord'2 to break and the velcro5 attached to the outer and inner sole to come apart, causing the outer sole and inner sole to separate.
In figure 2, the outer sole 3 has raised extensions 8 on the front and back of the outer sole 3.
This would help to ensure that the inner sole 4 and attached boot would not separate from the outer sole 3, if a football was struck with exceptional force. Inner sole 4 and outer sole 3 are glued in place and would separate if the player's boot/ankle/leg was hit by an opponent's boot with force, if the player's studs 2 remained firmly anchored in the ground.
In figure 3, an opponent's leg can be partly seen, it is attached to a football boot 11. The football boot 11 has hit a player wearing a detachable football boot 1 with severe force on the side. The studs 2 of the detachable football boot have remained firmly in the ground. The impact of the boot 11 has separated the inner sole 4 and the rest of the football boot from the outer sole 3, which would help to move the player's foot/ankle/leg away from the impact.
Claims (4)
- Claims 1. A detachable football boot comprising an outer sole and an inner sole, the inner sole may be connected to the outer sole by velcro, press studs, magnets, cord, weak stitching, suction, glue, or a combination of these methods, or by any arrangement that will ensure the outer and inner sole will detach from each other, when a severe impact in the form of a tackle hitting a player's boot/ankle/leg and the player's studs remain firmly anchored in the ground.
- 2. A detachable football boot according to claim 1, in which the outer sole may have extensions on the front and rear of the boot, to help ensure the sole is not dislodged by a less than severe tackle.
- 3. A detachable football boot according to claim 1, in which the outer sole may have extensions on the sides of the boot, to help ensure the sole is not dislodged by a less than severe tackle.
- 4. A detachable football boot according to claim 1, in which the inner sole is stitched, glued, vulcanized and br a combination of these into the football boot's uppers', i.e. the back, side and front of the boot.
