Description

P/00/012 Regulation 3.2 AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 ORIGINAL COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Invention Title: "VEHICULAR HEADLIGHT/FOG LIGHT STRUCTURE" The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us: VEHICULAR HEADLIGHT/FOG LIGHT STRUCTURE FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001] The present invention relates to a vehicular headlight/fog light structure and, more particularly, to a light structure capable of concentrating the light beams of 5 light-emitting diodes to reduce the number of the light-emitting diodes and to effectively reduce the volume of the vehicular headlight/fog light structure for a vehicle. PRIOR ART [0002] When driving at night or in heavy fogs, headlights or fog lights not only provide illumination on the road for drivers but warning the incoming vehicles to avoid car 10 accidents. Due to technical improvement and high quality products demanded by modem people, the light sources for the vehicular headlights or fog lights have been improved from traditional tungsten bulbs to neon lamps and light-emitting diodes. Light-emitting diodes (LED) have been widely used in vehicle lights because they consume less energy and less power and have a fast response speed and resistance to shock. 15 [0003] Due to low brightness of light-emitting diodes, currently available headlights or fog lights use a plurality of light-emitting diodes to assure sufficient brightness of the headlights or fog lights. Since light-emitting diodes generate high temperature during illumination, a gap is provided between adjacent light-emitting diodes, and heat cooling devices, such as fins, are provided to effectively dissipate the high heat generated by the 20 light-emitting diodes, avoiding the light-emitting diodes and other components from being burned and damaged. However, in addition to the space occupied by the light-emitting diodes, the gaps between the light-emitting diodes and the cooling devices such as fins increases the volume of the headlights or fog lights to be larger than ordinary headlights or fog lights using tungsten bulbs and neon lamps. Since the LED 25 headlights or fog lights occupy a space larger than ordinary headlights or fog lights, it is inconvenient to install the LED headlights or fog lights on small vehicles and to assemble with fog lights and turning signals. [0004] In view of the bulky size and difficulties in assembly of currently available LED headlights or fog lights, the inventor makes improvement in currently available vehicular 5 headlights or fog lights and conceived and invented the present invention based on years of experience in related manufacturing and design and knowledge. BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0005] The present invention relates to a vehicular headlight/fog light structure, and its primary objective is to provide a light structure capable of concentrating the light beams 10 of light-emitting diodes to reduce the number of the light-emitting diodes and to effectively reduce the volume of the headlight/fog light structure for a vehicle. [0006] To achieve the above objective, the inventor provides a vehicular headlight/fog light structure including a housing. A cover is mounted to a front end of the housing. A reflective board, a plurality of light-emitting diodes, and a concentrating board are 15 mounted in the housing. The light-emitting boards are located in front of a second reflection area of the reflective board. The concentrating board is located in front of the light-emitting diodes. The concentrating board includes a plurality of first reflection areas corresponding to the light-emitting diodes. Each of the first reflection areas includes an arcuate surface converging from two sides thereof towards a center thereof. 20 [0007] In the above-mentioned vehicular headlight/fog light structure, the arcuate surface of each first reflection area further extends upward. [0008] In the above-mentioned vehicular headlight/fog light structure, the reflective board further includes a partition. The light-emitting diodes are located below the partition. The partition has a slot. A focus of the second reflection area of the reflective 25 board is located at a front edge of the slot of the partition. 2 [0009] Thus, the vehicular headlight/fog light structure of the present invention provides the arcuate first reflection areas converging from two sides towards the center, such that the light beams from the light-emitting diodes can be effectively concentrated to increase the brightness of the light beams of the light-emitting diodes, reducing the number of the 5 light-emitting diodes and reducing the volume of the vehicular headlight/fog light. [0010] Furthermore, in the vehicular headlight/fog light structure of the present invention, the projection points of the light-emitting diodes in the first reflection areas correspond to the focus of the second reflection area of the reflective board (the focus is at the front edge of the slot of the reflective board) to effectively filter the light beams 10 outside of the focus of the second reflection area. This assures that the forwardly-projected light beams are below the cut-off line. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [0011] The technical features and the effects of the present invention will become clearer in light of the following detailed description of illustrative embodiments of this invention 15 described in connection with the drawings. [0012] Referring firstly to FIGS. 1 and 2, a vehicular headlight/fog light of the present invention is comprised of a housing 1, a cover 2, a reflective board 3, a plurality of light-emitting diodes 4, and a concentrating board 5. [0013] The housing I is a housing including a hollow compartment 13 having an open 20 end 11 and a closed end 12 opposite to the open end 11. [0014] The cover 2 is mounted to the open end 11 of the housing 1. [0015] The reflective board 3 is mounted in the compartment 13 of the housing 1. The reflective board 3 includes a partition 31 having a slot 311. A parabolic second reflection section 32 is provided on top of the partition 31. 3 [0016] The light-emitting diodes 4 are mounted in the compartment 13 of the housing 1 and located in front of the second reflection area 32 and located below the partition 31 of the reflection board 3. [0017] The concentrating board 5 is located in the compartment 13 and in front of the 5 light-emitting diodes 4. A plurality of first reflection areas 51 is formed on the concentrating board 5 and corresponds to the plurality of light-emitting diodes 4. Each first reflection area 51 includes an arcuate surface converging from two sides thereof towards a center thereof and extending upward. The first reflection areas 51 correspond to the slot 311 of the reflective board 3. 10 [0018] With reference to FIG 3, in use, the light-emitting diodes 4 are connected to a vehicular power source. When the power source is activated to turn on the light-emitting diodes 4, the light beams radiated from the light-emitting diodes 4 are incident to and reflected by the arcuate first reflection areas 51 (first reflection), forming upward light beams. The light beams of the light-emitting diodes 4 incident to the projection points of 15 the first reflection areas 51 and reflected by the first reflection areas 51 will pass through a front edge of the slot 311 of the partition 31 . The front edge of the slot 311 is the focus of the second reflection area 32. By providing the slot 311, the light beams outside of the second reflection area 32 are filtered. Thus, the light beams incident to the second reflection area 32 through the slot 311 are reflected by the second reflection area 32 20 (second reflection), forming light beams below the cut-off line. Thus, the projection angle of the light beams of the headlight/ fog light will not be higher than the cut-off line and, thus, will not project into the eyes of the incoming pedestrians or the drivers in the incoming vehicles. Thus, glare adversely affecting the vision of the incoming pedestrians or the drivers in the incoming vehicles is avoided to prevent car accidents. 25 [0019] Furthermore, the arcuate surfaces of the first reflection areas 51 of the vehicular headlight/fog light structure of the present invention not only reflect but also concentrate 4 the light beams from the light-emitting diodes 4, such that the sideward-scattering light beams are concentrated by the centrally-converging arcuate surfaces of the first reflection areas 51. Thus, the scattering light beams from the light-emitting diodes 4 are effectively concentrated to increase the brightness. The number of the light-emitting 5 diodes 4 can be reduced while meeting the brightness requirements of the headlights or fog lights for vehicles. Furthermore, the overall volume of the headlight/fog light can be reduced, allowing the LED headlight/fog light to be mounted to vehicles of various specifications while allowing easy installation with various fog lights and turning signals. 10 [0020] In view of the above structure and embodiment, the present invention includes the following advantages: [0021] 1. The vehicular headlight/fog light structure of the present invention provides a concentrating board in front of the light-emitting diodes. A plurality first reflection areas is formed on the concentrating board and corresponds to the light-emitting diodes. Each 15 first reflection area includes an arcuate surface converging from two sides thereof towards the center thereof to effectively concentrate the scattered light beams from the light-emitting diodes, increasing the brightness of the light beams of the light-emitting diodes. Thus, number of the light-emitting diodes 4 can be reduced, and the overall volume of the vehicular headlight/fog light is reduced. 20 [0022] 2. In the vehicular headlight/fog light structure of the present invention, the projection points of the light-emitting diodes in the first reflection areas correspond to the focus of the second reflection area of the reflective board (the focus is at the front edge of the slot of the reflective board) to effectively filter the light beams outside of the focus of the second reflection area. This assures that the forwardly-projected light beams 25 are below the cut-off line. 5 [0023] In view of the foregoing, the embodiment of the present invention indeed achieves the expected effects. Furthermore, the disclosed specific structure has not been seen in similar products and is never published before application. Thus, the present invention meets the regulations and requirements of the patent law, and an application 5 for utility patent is, therefore, filed pursuant to the patent law. Favorable examination to grant this application will be highly appreciated. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS [0024] FIG I is an exploded, perspective view of the present invention. [0025] FIG 2 is a cross sectional view of the present invention. 10 [0026] FIG 3 is a view illustrating use of the present invention.
