Abstract

Abstract Since many years hook lift/hooklift devices are used for the transport and handling of containers/bins, trays etc. in a lot of countries. Although, several countries have already standardized dimensions - concerning the distances between the rails or dimensions of the skids -such as Germany with the EN DIN 30722.1 = 1,060 mm - contai ners/bins in Australia have often different (customized) measurements (e.g. 660 mm or 880 mm width). Therefore, the loads with those measurements cannot be properly secured with the standardized hook lift module's lockings, because all commonly used lockings are designed for a width of 1,060 mm. In order to remedy this inadequate situation by transporting/handling of such loads, the - in the fol lowing - described innovation was developed in order to enable securing of containers/bins etc. with all widths during transport by using the variable locking device: A hook lift/hooklift module with variable locking device(s) - mounted onto trucks/lorries - for loading, unloading, dumping/tilting and transport of payload - such as hook lift containers/bins, platforms, trays, tank containers and other load, which is handled with a hook lift/hooklift device - with varied widths of the load's subframe rails/skid. The hook lift/hooklift module has a subframe structure, on which infini tely variable locking device(s) and/or graded locking device(s) is/are mounted onto the front and/or rear side and/or onto the front and rear side in order to secure all the loads, which can be handled with such hook lift/hooklift device. The locking devices of the hook lift/hooklift module may have hydraulically operated drive and/or pneumatically operated drive and/or electrically operated drive - to go by the carrier truck/lorry. Each locking device has one and/or more clamp(s) and/or one or more plunger(s) on one and/or both sides (left and/or right side) external and/or internal in order to secure the load and to avoid slipping/fall down of the load during transport and/or handling after the locking device is activa ted/closed by the operator/ driver. The locking device(s) has/have hydraulic cylinder(s), which is provi ded with hydraulic oil by the hook lift's/hooklift's hydraulic oil tank and/or by a separated hydraulic system, for adjusting the clamp(s) and/or plunger(s) to the needed/suitable width of the actual payload's subframe rails/skid. The hydraulic cylinder(s) activate(s) also the closing/opening of the clamp(s) and/ or plunger(s) in order to enable loading/unloading of the actual load by the hook lift/hooklift arm. The hook lift/hooklift device may also have a rear roller assembly with separated rear rollers and/or with a continuous rear roller in order to ensure loading/unloading of the actual load of varied widths with one and the same hook lift/hooklift device. The hook lift/hooklift device may also be equipped with lateral supports with/without roller bearing(s) in order to ensure a smooth and silent loading/unloading and safe transport/ handling of outsized loads. The lateral supports may also be equipped with mechanical locking devices such as twist locks in order to secure the actual load during transport and/or handling. v44
