Description

Editorial Note for 2010100574 There are 2 pages of description and a cover sheet AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INOVATION PATENT ROTATING FITTING JOINER FOR WAKEBOARD TOWER The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it know to me Mr James Odell ROTATING FITTING JOINER FOR WAKEBOARD TOWER 5 A Wakeboard Tower is a frame constructed out of aluminium tubing mounted on a boat. The function is towing persons behind the boat via a rope attached to the tow point on the wakeboard tower. Boats in the market vary in shape, size, width and length. There is two distinctive 10 markets of Wakeboard Towers. The custom built wakeboard tower that is build exactly for the boat, no adjustment to fit other boats. The other market is the universal fitting wakeboard tower, which can be adjusted in width to suit a wide range of boats. The current knowledge in the universal market uses aluminium tubing in multiple 15 sections to make up the four legs and a top section, to construct a frame. The top section of the universal tower is a larger diameter tube. The legs are smaller tube size is inserted inside the top section allowing for adjustment in width. You are required to drill through the large top tube and the smaller leg tubes inserted inside. 20 Place large bolts to hold in place, requiring up to 8 bolts. An issue is the amount of skill, time and effort required to install. Aligning, keep square the multiple parts, the sliding and movement of the tubes whilst trying to drill in position without damaging the tower or boat during the installation process. 25 This invention has been specially devised in order to provide improved adjustment of the width of the legs mounting points to suit a wide range of boats. To reduce the risk of damaging the tower and boat, no drilling required when attaching 30 the four legs to the top section of the tower. The top section is one complete structure no telescopic section, with the added advantage of looking like a custom built one piece wakeboard tower for the boat, with no bolts seen, only nice clean lines. 35 The fitting used in the construction of a wakeboard tower, this invention comprises of three parts ( drawings with parts marked 1-2-3) Part no.1 A CNC machined solid piece of aluminium, which is welded onto the end of the 40 curved stylized aluminium tubing leg of the tower. It is shaped in a circle with a cut out circular recessed area. In the centre there is a threaded hole to take a large bolt. (see to drawing) Part no. 2 A CNC machined solid piece of aluminium, with a raised circular area at one 45 end, a hole through the centre to hold a bolt. This fitting is inserted into Part 1, it can rotated and locked into place with the bolt being tighten when required. (see drawing) Part no. 3 A CNC machined solid piece of aluminium, this part is welded onto the end of stylized tubing creating the top section, where the legs are attached to construct the wakeboard tower. 5 See reference drawing showing the Parts all joined together in position Parts 1, 2 & 3 Part welded to a wakeboard tower leg tube end is shaped to the tube and has a circular cut out recessed area with a large centre threaded hole. Parts 1 and Part 2 are joined together with the raised circular machine section of Part 2 inserted into Part 1, recessed 10 area. A bolt inserted down the inside centre of Part 2 is threaded into. An option if required a rubber insert can be placed between Parts 1 and 2 when the bolt is tighten to hold in place. 15 The configuration of Parts 1 & 2 allows for the leg to be rotated and moved. Parts 2 and 3 held together by 2 bolts, or you have the option of only using a one bolt when making Part 3. 20 The fitting joiner is used to hold the four legs and top section of the wakeboard tower together making the shape of wakeboard tower. The invention allows the four legs of the wakeboard tower, to be attached to the top section of the Wakeboard tower making a complete wakeboard tower. The combination 25 of the 3 parts of the invention allows the wakeboard tower legs rotated between parts 1 & 2 and adjusted to the width required for mounting. No drilling or adjustment to the top section is required to achieve the fit to various size boats, as previously known in the industry. 30 The curved leg ends where it attaches to the boat can be moved inwards or outwards to the desired width. Part no.1 Rotates when Part 2 is inserted inside, the bolt is tighten and holds the two parts together and the leg in position for mounting to the boat at the desired width. 35 The invention is made from solid aluminium construction with stainless steel bolts. The invention can be better understood by reference to the attached drawings showing the parts described. 40 45 50

Claims (8)

1. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower comprising of part 1 welded to the end of a wakeboard tower tube leg. Part 3 is welded to the top section of the 5 stylised wakeboard frame. Part 2 joins and attached to both parts I and 3 (see attached drawings) using stainless steel bolts.
2. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower comprising of part 1 has a machined recessed area which allows for the raised machined area of Part 2, circular in shape to be inserted and bolted together with a centre bolt. This allows for the 10 movement of the leg.
3. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower as claimed in 1, used on four legs of a wakeboard tower attached to a stylized top section makes a wakeboard tower frame.
4. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower as claimed in 1, 2 & 3 allows for the 15 rotation of the curved stylized legs inwards or outwards to the desired width of the boat for mounting.
5. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower as claimed in 1 & 2 & 3, does not require drilling and bolting through the tubes of the legs and top section frame to set the tower at the correct width for mounting on the boat. 20
6. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower as claimed in 1,2 & 3 allows you to use one, same size top section to fit a wide variety of boats. Making it universal fitting a large range of boat shapes and sizes with ease.
7. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower as claimed in 1, 2 & 3 makes the installation of a wakeboard tower to a boat a lot quicker, easier and less skill 25 required.
8. A rotating fitting joiner for wakeboard tower can substantially as herein before describe with reference to part figures in the accompanying drawings showing the three individual parts 1, 2 & 3 and also in the joined position. 30 James Odell 4 JUNE 2010 35 40 45 50
