Description

1 Improved Meat Carving Knife Blade Description The invention relates to the front lower portion of a standard round ended meat carving blade. For safety reasons, these knives do not possess a sharp point. Although pointed meat carving knives are available (either one long point or double ???forked??? points) the round ended type is selected because there can be no risk of serious stab injury. The invention adds a small sharp point to the front lower portion of a round ended blade. This enables the user to pierce and pick up slices of meat with the knife after they have been cut from the joint without the risk of accidental stab injury. Drawing Sheet: Fig. 1. Detail A shows the portion of the knife which has been improved. Fig. 1. ???B??? identifies the body of the blade. This can be manufactured from metal. The preferred material is stainless steel. Fig. 1. ???C??? indentifies the handle of the knife. This can be manufactured from plastic, wood or metal. Fig. 2. Shows a detail view of the improved blade. ???A??? is the standard round ended blade shape. ???B??? is the small sharp point added underneath the round profile. The design can be applied to any knife blade, either at the start of the manufacturing process or post-operatively. The design can be applied to any standard round ended meat carving knife with a metal or ceramic type blade.

Claims (4)

1. A round ended meat carving knife having an additional small sharp point located directly under the round ended tip, providing the extra functionality of a standard long pointed meat carving knife but without the risk of causing deeply penetrative stab wounds
2. The small sharp point can be utilized to pierce and pick up slices of meat after they have been cut from a joint.
3. The small sharp point cannot cause deeply penetrative stab wounds because it is limited in length and protected by the upper round portion retained from the standard carving knife blade.
4. The blade design can be manufactured from metal and the preferred material is steel. It can also be produced using high density zircon ceramic.
