Description

AUSTRALIA
PATENT ACT 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT ZIED LIFT The folowing statement is a fall description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: ZIED LIFT A form fill and seal machine is an automatic packaging machine used in the manufacturing industry to package goods for the retail market.
The Zied Lift is a multi purpose mobile lifting device specifically designed to secure, lift, transport, set in place or remove the forming/filling head of a form fill and seal machine.
Although the Zied lift is specifically designed for the applications as mentioned. The unique clamping jaw of the Zied lift expands the Zied lifts capabilities as multi purpose lifting tool. Holes inserted on the lower perimeter of the Zied lifts clamping jaw face, are for an attachment to assist in the removal or installation of a roll of plastic that supplies the machine. The attachment holes can also be used to bolt or hook slings and other apparatuses, which broaden the Zied lifts, lifting and transporting capabilities as a multi purpose tool.
The controls located on the main vertical upright at the front of the Zied lift enables the operator to pick up/clamp objects at different heights. The unit is designed to allow the operator to accommodate the change in the height and keep the face of the lifting jaw vertically level via the clamping jaws tilt control. By pushing one of the controls either forward (away from the operator) or pulling it back, (toward the operator) enables the operator to perform the following task as listed below: Raises and lowers the main arm.
Tilts the clamping jaw forward and back.
Clamps or releases the object. (A safety device incorporated in this control prevents the operator from inadvertently releasing or dropping the object or filling head.) The Zied lift is hydraulically or electrically powered depending on the end users preference. When using the hydraulically powered unit, the operator must pump the hydraulic jack to complete task one, two or three as mentioned above. The electrically powered unit uses a battery which requires charging.
The Zied lift is manufactured out of steel; however aluminium can also be used. It is fitted with wheels on each corner of the bottom frame for mobility.
The unit is designed to easily disassemble and fold for transporting and storage purposes.
The Zied lift may best be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention which; Figure 1 is a description of the Zied lift 'tilt control and its interacting function with the tilting head. Figure 1-A is the hydraulic cylinder. By pushing the control lever (I-C) forward towards enables the Hydraulic ram to extend tilting the lifting head (I-B) forward toward Pulling the control lever back towards Enables the hydraulic ram to contract, tilting the lifting head back towards The tilt function on the Zied lift enables the operator to level the object transporting at various heights.
Figure 2 is the interacting function of the Zied lifts height control. Figure 2-A is the hydraulic cylinder, which enables the arm of the Zied lift to raise or lower. By pushing the arm control forward toward enables the hydraulic ram to extend pushing the Zied lifts arm up towards By pulling the arm control (2-C) back towards enables the ram to contract lowering the arm toward Figure 3 is the interacting function of the Zied lifts clamping jaw. Figure is the hydraulic cylinder, which enables the clamping jaw to open or close. By pushing the jaw control forward towards extends the hydraulic ram enabling the jaw to close or clamp on to the object. Pulling the jaw control back towards (3-E) retracts the hydraulic arm, which opens the clamping jaw.
Figure 4 are the Zied lift controls, which express the locking/safety device for the clamping jaw. A spring-loaded safety bolt automatically secures the control lever in the neutral position, when the hole on the safety plate aligns with the safety bolt. This prevents inadvertent releasing of the object The safety bolt is expressed in fig The operator must pull the safety bolt out of the locking plate hole and shift the control lever forward or back to enable the grab or release function. A side view of the locking plate as expressed in (fig 4-B) is threaded into control lever Figure is a 3D expression of the spring-loaded locking device and control lever locked in the neutral position.
Figure 5 expresses the side view and front view of the Zied lifts clamping jaw. Three holes on the lower face of the Zied lift, enables attachments to hook or bolt on to this area which broadens the Zied lifts lifting and carrying capabilities. One of these attachments is the Zied lifts plastic roll carrying mechanism. Viewing sights cut into the throat of the Zied lifts clamping jaw. Enables the operator to view and line an object up with the mouth of the Zied lift to clamp it.
Figure 6 expresses the Zied lift in the process of folding for shipping. Removing the pin that connects the hydraulic ram to the arm of the Zied lift frees the arm and enables the arm to fold back over in the direction of Removing the bolts that connect the braces and the lower frame. Along with the two bolts which hold the base frame and the vertical upright together. Enables the upright to fold forward and rest between the two front wheels of the Zied lift Before folding the vertical upright forward, the two support braces must be folded up towards the two front wheels. A hinge located at the bottom of the vertical upright secures the lower base frame with the vertical upright. This allows the top of the vertical upright to swing down towards The head of the Zied lift folds down towards and finally resting above the two bolts which held the vertical upright and the frame together.
Figure 7 is a complete illustration of the Zied Lift.
7-A is the hydraulic ram which allows the operator to level the object.
7-B is the attachment lifting ring.
7-C clampingjaw 7-D hydraulic ram which controls the clamping jaw.
7-E Removing the pin to the hydraulic arm enables the lifting arm to fold back over to finally come to rest between the frame of the two front wheels above the ain support arm. The arrows indicate the direction of fold.
7-F Pivot point of arm. Allows the unit to fold back over to rest above the main support bar between the two front wheels.
7-G Steering bar.
7-H Hydraulic pump handle.
7-I Securing bolts. The unit is hinged on the opposite side. Removing bolts allopw the main support bar to fold forward between the frame of the two front wheels.
7- The Zied lift has four wheels, one on each comer of the bottom frame.
7-K (Hinged) enables the unit to fold forward and rest between the V of the two front wheels for storing and transporting purposes.
7-L Main supporting arm folds forward in the direction of the arrows.
7-M Controls for lifting or lowering, securing or releasing and levelling the clamping jaw 7-N Hydraulic ram which controls the lifting and lowering of units.
Removable pin enables the unit to fold for storage or transport.
Figure 8 is a 1:10 scale Left Side View and Front View of the Zied Lift.
