Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing anti-wear coatings on a steel piston ring, according to which, in a first working step, the bearing surface is at least partially provided with a bearing surface coating, and in a second working step, at least the flanks are provided with a nitrating layer by means of plasma-nitriding in order to produce a hardness HV 0,1 > 1400, such that the working step of the plasma-nitriding is carried out according to the bearing surface coating to be used, in the temperature range < 490 DEG C especially = 450 DEG C.
