Abstract

Antibiotic peptides (A), their derivatives (amidated, acetylated, sulfated, phosphorylated, glycosylated or oxidized) and their active fragments, preferably with conserved exchanges or deletions of amino acids, are new. New antibiotic peptides (A), have formulae (1) - (12). (1) R 1-WGKMVTAVASALSSRYH-R 2; (2) R 1-GKVKVGVNGFGRIGRLVTRAAFNSGKVDIVA-R 2; (3) R 1-VCVLAHHFGKEFTPPVQAAYQKVVAGVANALAHKYH-R 2; (4) R 1-KAGAHLKGGAKRVIISAPS-R 2; (5) R 1-YIVYKIRSADKRSKALK-R 2; (6) R 1-KAASKKAPSKASPNPRSGTRRSP-R 2; (7) R 1-KAASKKAPSKASPNPRSGTRRSPRIATTAASAATAAASAAATTPRAKGKAKH-R 2; (8) R 1-CAIHAKRVTIMPKDIQLARRIRGERA-R 2; (9) R 1-LSKGLIKLVSKHRAQVIYTRNTKGGDAPAAG-R 2; (10) R 1-QQKQQKGRGMGGAGRGVFGGRGRGGIPGTGRGQPEKKPG-R 2; (11) R 1-LKSLVSKGTLVQTKGTGASGSFKLNLLAATGEAKPKGKKAGAAKPKKAAGAAKKPKK-R 2; or (12) R-1-SSGEEVVIPQKKGKKAATTPAKKMVVSPTKKVAVATPAKKAVVTPGKKAAAMPAKKTVTPAKAVVTPGKKGATPGKAVVATSGKKGAATPGKGAKNGKNAKKED-R 2. R 1amino, amino acid or peptide of up to 50 amino acids; R 2carboxy, aminocarbonyl, amino acid or peptide of up to 50 amino acids An independent claim is also included for methods for preparing (A). ACTIVITY : Antibiotic; fungicide; protozoacide; virucide; cytostatic; antiinflammatory; antidiarrheic. The peptide (2) had typical minimum inhibitory concentrations (Microg/ml) of 7.8 for Bacillus subtilisAmerican Type Culture Collection (ATCC) 6051 and Escherichia coliBL21(DE3) and 31.25 against Pseudomonas aeruginosa(clinical isolate) or Micrococcus luteusATCC 9341.
