Abstract

The invention concerns a safety catch which comprises a first brake block (47), two spring assemblies (50, 51), two guide bolts (52, 53) disposed centrally relative to the latter, and a second brake block (15). The lower part (48) of the brake block has an inclined plane (75) on which the upper part (49) is slidingly mounted. In the catch position, the upper part (49) abuts the two bolts (52, 53). The upper part (49) is provided with cross-grooves (57). The second brake block (15) takes the form of a wedge and is provided with cross-grooves (68) on the side abutting the rail (14). The wedge is brought into its catch position by a lever and a toothed roller (76) via an inclined guide (58). The invention ensures a more stable and simpler design which has increased safety. The safety catch according to the invention produces twice as much braking force as a known device of approximately the same size.
