Abstract

The invention relates to a travelling mechanism (2) for an extensively overhanging working device (1) such as a tall building crane, preferably a tower slewing crane, in addition to a travelling mechanism (2) on which such a crane (1) or working device is mounted. The travelling mechanism (2) consists of a chassis (15) with a tandem or twin axle (3, 4) comprising a first (3) and a second (4) axle, whereby the wheels (11a) of both the first (3) and second (4) axle are provided with bogie or axle pivot steering. The bogie or axle pivot steering of the wheels (11a) of the first axle (3) is connected to the bogie or axle pivot steering of the wheels (11b) of the second axle (4) so that the wheels of the first (3) and second axle (4) are geometrically and synchronously steered. Preferably, the wheels of the first (3) and second (4) axle are arranged in a supporting area of the working device (1), as in a crane (1). The travelling mechanism (2) also comprises a traction device (28) which is separate from the chassis (15) and which is joined to a tractor vehicle. Said tractor device (28) is attached to the working device (1) and thus connected to the travelling mechanism (2), whereby the working device, in its preferred embodiment as a crane, functions as part of the chassis (15) during transport and manoeuvring.
