Abstract

The invention concerns a method for the continuous separation and recovery of water-thinnable paints from the water circuit (13) in spray booths (11) by electrolytic separation using a d.c. circuit. The continuously separated and removed paint, consisting of binder components, pigments and possibly also auxiliary solvents, can be re-used in the painting process after addition of neutralizing agent separated at the counter-electrode (16), while the purified water is fed back into the spray-booth water circuit. The advantages of the invention include the complete recycling of the overspray, as well as the fact that it is no longer necessary to have to dispose of unusable paint sludge and contaminated waste water.
