Abstract

The folding box is made from a single-piece blank, the blank being provided with impressed folding lines in the end and side walls which lines adjoin a central base area. In the production of complex packages, e.g. for chocolates or the like, a folding box is firstly produced without a projecting edge. A piece of cardboard, possibly provided with a padded insert, is bonded to said folding box. In this case, if the piece of cardboard is larger, a projecting edge results in relation to the base area of the folding box, which gives a visually attractive impression. However, the manufacturing costs are relatively high in respect of the large requirement of material and the large number of production steps required. In the new folding box, the bonding of a piece of cardboard, provided with a padded insert, is avoided due to the special type of folding. The new folding box can be manufactured automatically and requires only a small transport space when being transported from the manufacturer's to the user. <IMAGE>
