Abstract

The tool (10), such as a pneumatic gun, places inserts, in particular inserts with a central hole, one by one. An insert loader (5) is slidable in the front end (2) of the tool body and comprises a longitudinal channel (52) and a lateral insert-injecting channel (53) which communicate with one another via an orifice (57). A push rod (6) is slidable in the longitudinal channel and may possess a gripping device (66). A piston (23) of a single-acting pushing cylinder (2) is integral with the loader and advances the loader (5) which opens the orifice (57) for the passage of an injected insert (1) which is stopped by retractable lugs (54). A spring (25) moves the loader (5) back so that the stopped insert is held by the gripping device (66), and that the lugs (54) are retracted by the push rod (6). Finally, the held insert (1) is completely visible at the front of the tool (10) in order to centre it on the hole of a component. The push rod (6) is immovable as the loader (5) is moved forward and back, and is struck by the rod of a rear piston in a single-acting cylinder with compression chamber counter to a return spring, in order to implant, with a very high force, the held insert into the component hole. <IMAGE>
