Abstract

The invention relates to a spark plug (1) for an internal combustion engine, comprising a metal housing (2) having a first housing part (21), particularly a housing seat, a second housing part (26), particularly a housing tube, a center electrode (4), a ground electrode (5) disposed at the first housing part (21), and an isolator (6) in order to separate the center electrode (4) from the ground electrode (5), wherein the first housing part (21) is closer to the combustion chamber than the second housing part (26), wherein the first housing part (21) has a housing seating surface (24) for the safe seating of the spark plug (1) in an installed state, and wherein a first wall thickness (D1) of the first housing part (21) is larger than a second wall thickness (D2) of the second housing part (26).
