Abstract

1. Mounting of the tube plates onto a shell of a tubular heat exchanger, in which exchanger the carbon steel shell (1) defines, together with the solid titanium tube plates (2) mounted at its two ends, a chamber for the condensation of steam (B) by heat exchange with a fluid such as sea water running through the tubes which extend, in the chamber (B), from one tube plate to the other, each tube plate (2) forming, moreover, together with a corresponding carbon steel cover (1_a), a chamber (C) for the inlet (13) and outlet (14) respectively of the sea water or of a similar fluid, each tube plate being clamped between two flanges, one (7) of which is fastened to the shell (1) and the other (8) is fastened to the corresponding cover (1_a) of the exchanger, characterized in that each tube plate (2) is fastened on the steam side (B) to the flange (7) of the shell (1) by screws (15) and in that means (16, 16a, 19) are provided which interact with the face (7a) of the flange (7), the face adjacent to the tube plate (2), and with the peripheral face (2a) of the tube plate (2), in order to accommodate and hold tightly a sealing strip (17) outside the shell.
