Abstract

The invention concerns a method for initially or subsequently equipping a floor drain (1), comprising a discharge conduit (3), with a fire barrier device for preventing fire from spreading. The invention is characterized in that said fire-barrier device comprises a fire-barrier cartridge (2), provided with at least a fire-barrier element (2), which can be traversed and plugged above or beneath said discharge conduit (3). In case of fire, said fire-barrier element provides gas tight sealing to the discharge conduit (3) of the floor drain (1) under the effect of heat. Said invention concerns also a device for implementing said method. It is thus possible to retrofit a floor drain (1) with suitable fire-barrier devices without any particular and expensive structural engineering.
