Abstract
1. Converter consisting of a vessel (10) supported by a ring (12) which surrounds it and is fitted with two diametrically opposed trunnions (14) allowing the vessel to tilt on a horizontal axis, the vessel being fitted with brackets (16) resting on the upper side of the ring when the vessel is vertical and its spout at the top, characterized by the fact that the said brackets (16) are attached to the ring by mushroom-shaped parts (26) whose cap (30) is situated above the base plate (18) of the brackets (16) and whose foot (29), which passes through the said base plate, rests on the upper side of the ring (12) and is made an integral part of the latter by means of attachment rods (28) which pass through the ring (12) on a parallel with its axis and exert predetermined clamping stresses on the said parts (26) allowing them to be prestressed and joined together with the ring, without clearance, and by the fact that the passages (34) provided in the base plates of the brackets for the foot of the said parts have greater dimensions than those of the said feet to allow the differential expansion of the vessel (10) and ring (12) and by the fact that during installation a clearance (j) is left between the cap (29) of the said parts and the base plate (18) of the brackets so that the latter can slide freely over the ring under any circumstances.
