Abstract

A non slip strip (30) for a step of a ladder is pressed into a recess in the step and is held under compression. The step and its support rung (16) are formed by extrusion with the recess having retaining lips (32, 34) under which the outer edges of the strip are clipped. The compressed strip leaves small spaces (44, 46) on the underside to provide additional flexibility. The strip has a surface texture and can be coloured. A similar strip mounting can be used for knock protection on other parts of the ladder.
