Abstract

A method for compression shrinking of a textile material web on a rubber strip shrinking unit, depending on a separately determined set shrinking value is disclosed. The thread density of the material web (20) running through the shrinking unit is measured with a thread counter (11). The set shrinking value is controlled depending on the measured value for the thread density of the running material web (20). According to the invention, a compensation for the thread density is possible even with extreme shrinkage requirement and/or extremely variable initial thread density, whereby the compression force of the rubber strip (13) on the corresponding shrinkage cylinder (14) is controlled, depending on the measured thread density.
