Abstract
A gasification apparatus in which a fluidizing gas is supplied into a furnace from the furnace bottom to form a descending fluidized bed 7 and an ascending fluidized bed 8 in the furnace. The gasification apparatus has an incombustible matter discharge passage 9 below the ascending fluidized bed 8. Combustible matter 5 is cast into the upper part of the descending fluidized bed 7 to burn and gasify the combustible matter 5. A fluidized medium stirring means is provided in the incombustible matter discharge passage 9 or an inert gas is supplied through a supply opening 14 into or near the passage 9 to prevent the formation of clinker in the passage 9 or in or near the entrance thereof, which would otherwise clog the incombustible matter discharge opening.
