Abstract

The penultimate chain link (1a) in the load section (5) of the chain is received by a slot (13) in between the claw jaws (12), this slot being open on the load section side. The load-transmitting final chain link (1b) in the load section of the chain is in contact with the two jaws. <??>A stopper device, especially a shortening load-engaging hook for chains, especially round link chains, comprises a hook with a shortening claw connected to it. The claw divides the chain into a load section and a blank section (6), both of which have a variable length.
