Abstract

The fire detector has a fan (14) that draws air through a tube into a measurement chamber (3). Built into the chamber is a detector (4) that measures the volumetric flow rate. This is compared as a ratio with the power of the motor (8) and the ratio depends upon the density of the flow and this changes with the content of smoke.
