Abstract

The subject invention provides a method for producing non-glycosylated Bactericidal/Permeability Increasing Protein using a gram-negative bacterial cell, which comprises transfecting the cell with a vector encoding Bactericidal/Permeability Increasing Protein; culturing the cell so transfected under conditions permitting the production of non-glycosylated Bactericidal/Permeability Increasing Protein in the cell; and recovering from the cell the non-glycosylated, Bactericidal/Permeability Increasing Protein so produced. Finally, the subject invention provides the non-glycosylated Bactericidal/Permeability Increasing Protein produced by the method of the subject invention.
