Abstract

An electrical equipment housing has a built-in power carrying rail (11) and adjacent to this is a metal spring clamp (1) that is formed with a loop shape from strip material. Formed within the housing recess is a reaction block (3) and the spring locates over this. One arm of the spring (18) engages the power rail and the other has an aperture (10). When a tool is inserted from the side (13) m the spring compresses and the aperture becomes aligned with a point of insertion (14) for an external conductor or wire. When the compressive force is released the wire is securely clamped.
