Abstract

An explosion protected socket unit for use with electrical light bulbs has a main housing (3) with a bore to receive a bush element (11) that contains the receiving elements for the two pins of a light bulb. The bore is formed with a thread section (8) that matches a mating section on the bush. The bush also has a profiled surface (19) that engages with spring-loaded pins (17) in the housing to fix the positions. When the bulb is inserted and rotated axial movement occurs until the pins engage the enclosed contacts.
