Abstract

A lampholder has a screw thread 2 and bayonet cut-outs 3 so that it can receive either a screw or bayonet lamp.

Description

2338120 Easy Light This invention relates to a convenient electric light
bulb holder.
Light fittings, (of any type be it ceiling, wall mounted, free standing or any other) comprise of a socket ("light bulb holder") into which is inserted a light bulb which is caused to illuminate when the power to the fitting is switched on. Light bulbs maybe of a screw-in cap or bayonet cap design, and those of a screw-in design may be used only in a screw-in socket; those of a bayonet design may be used only in a socket which accepts the bayonet design. Consequently a screw-in cap light bulb cannot be used in a bayonet socket, nor can a bayonet cap light bulb be used in a screw- 'm socket.
According to the present invention there is provided a light fitting which comprises of a socket into which both bayonet cap and screw-in cap light bulbs may be inserted.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Diagram 1 shows in perspective the light bulb holder Diagram 2 shows a cross section of the light bulb holder Referring to the drawing, the light bulb holder comprises of a fitting into which may be inserted either a screw-in cap or bayonet cap by reason of the fitting having both nidges 1 and holes 2 which hold the bulb securely against the contact 31, which provides the electricity via a cable 4 which in turn illuminates the bulb.

The traditional light firting. desi-ned to accept either bayonet or sci-ei-in cap bulbs. is adapted so that it is compilsed of both rid'_-'es to prokide a thread for a sci-e,,k-iii bulb and holes and access to the holes for the pins of a ba\ onet bulb. Either screm-in cap or bayonet cap bulbs can be used 1T1 the---EasyLight- fitting.
