Fig. 3).

Valve control for steam engines.
The invention relates to a valve control for steam engines, in particular for locomotives. The innovation consists primarily in the fact that at the end of a tube-like shaped
Valve housing arranged inlet chamber for the live steam, one inlet and one outlet valve each are arranged one behind the other in an axis, the inlet valves being controlled by a control shaft and the two outlet valves each being controlled by a special control shaft. It is possible to place both valves on one cylinder side under a common closing force.
In the drawing, two embodiments of the invention are shown, u. Between. Fig. 1 is a
Longitudinal section through the valve housing of a steam engine, with a different one on each cylinder side
Embodiment of the control is shown. Fig. 2 is a cross section along line a-b of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows the drive of the valves in a perspective representation.
The valve housing 2 cast onto the cylinder 1 is shaped like a Y-pipe and contains an inflow chamber 3 which extends up to close to the cylinder ends and to which the live steam is fed in the middle through a nozzle 4. In this tubular housing, the inlet valves 5 and the outlet valves 6 are arranged at the cylinder ends in such a way that the associated pair of valves is arranged one behind the other on one and the same axis, and the like. between the inlet valve 5 on the inside, the outlet valve 6 on the outside. In the embodiment shown, all valves lie in an axis parallel to the cylinder. The inlet valves open outward and the outlet valves inward.
The inlet valves 5 sit on the valve spindles 7 and are controlled by a control shaft 8 by means of lifting thumbs 9. The control shaft 6 is mounted in a cover 10, which closes a bore 11, which runs directly at the branch of the Y-pipe, transversely to the inflow chamber 3 and which receives the lifting thumb 9. In the embodiment shown above in Fig. 1, the inlet valves 5 are kept closed by closing springs 12, which are stored in the hollow valve spindles 13 of the outlet valves 6 and not only press the inlet valves J, but also the outlet valves 6 onto their seats.
The valve spindles 13 of the outlet valves 6 are mounted in the covers 14 which close the Y-pipe at both ends. The exhaust valves 6 are each controlled by a control shaft 15 with stroke length 16. These control shafts are mounted in the covers 14 and connected to the rocking lever 19 on the control shaft 8 by means of externally seated rocker arms 17 and articulated rods 18, so that all three control shafts together are driven (see Fig. 3).
The Frisehdampf supplied through the nozzle 4 passes through the inflow chamber 3 and one of the open inlet valves 5 into the overflow channel 20 leading to the cylinder 20. When the valve is opened, the tension of the valve spring 12 is increased so that the outlet valve opens with increased spring tension during the inlet period his seat is pressed. During the outlet period, however, the outlet valve 6 opens and the inlet valve is now pressed onto its seat with increased spring tension. The exhaust steam then passes through the Überströmka. nal 20 and the open outlet valve into the exhaust steam channel 21, which merges into a collecting space 22 behind the Y-pipe.
This collecting space, into which the bore 11 also opens, is then connected to the exhaust line by means of the connecting piece 23.

EMI2.1
In the next case, a differential piston 25 is inserted into the hollow valve spindle 24 of the outlet valve 6, the offset end 26 of which protrudes through the bottom of the hollow valve spindle 24 and is supported against the inlet valve 5. The interior space 27 of the valve spindle 24 is pressurized in that it is connected to any pressure source (for example to the steam boiler, to a compressed air tank or 2n to a press oil line) by means of the openings 28 and the connecting pieces 29 a, n.
The annular space 30 surrounding the small piston 26 is permanently connected to the exhaust space 21 by a channel M. The two nested parts 24 and dz are therefore constantly pressed apart and the outlet and inlet valves are thereby also kept under pressure.
As can be seen, with this design of the valve control, a compact arrangement of all control parts, a simple, easy to work and easy to isolate valve housing is achieved.
The valve housing can form a cast piece with the cylinder or it can be designed as a special part which consists only of a simple Y-pipe attached to the cylinder with a flange, into which the four valves are inserted.
