the present method offers, the use of a solid protein body, especially casein, as one of the starting products is an indispensable necessity, since only in this way the incrustation of the wood fiber, which causes the hardening, is achieved. Also, the means of the patent specification was only intended to be applied superficially in pulp form to the wood in order to emboss the wood

it was neither intended nor suitable for impregnating and compacting freshly felled wood.
The use of water glass solutions for mowing fire, mineralizing and the like. Like. Wood is already known per se, but it was not known that this substance, in combination with alkali albuminates and borax, results in an impregnation process that is ideally suited for preserving, hardening and fixing the artificial coloration of wood.

Suitable sealing means attached a hood or some other form of seal made of resistant material, which contains a cavity inside for collecting and distributing the liquid and is provided with an inlet for the liquid. The impregnation liquid specified above is pressed into this hood by a pump or by mere hydraulic pressure.
In doing so, it penetrates the trunk by displacing the natural juice contained in them from the vessels and pushing it in front of them. The juice comes out at the opposite end. When the impregnation liquid appears at this end, the treatment is finished and the hood is removed. As can be seen, in this way the juice, which, as is known, is subject to fermentation and thereby damages the wood in its values, is completely removed and the new solution is put in its place, the presence of which makes any unfavorable change in the wood impossible the wood not only has a conserving effect, it also has a hardening effect.
The drawback of the previous dyeing processes for wood, that the color quickly faded when exposed to light, is remedied by the present process, since the protein (casein) acts as a link between the wood and the dye, which it is through what is present Borax and water glass is supported, so that a lightfast permanent color is created. When the wood is dried, which, as mentioned, fills up much more quickly than if it has not been treated, the action of the chemicals mentioned above causes hardening and compression, which means that the wood does not warp or swell.
As a result of these advantages, the wood treated according to the application process is in
