Rohrkupplung.
Abb.

Pipe coupling.
The invention relates to a pipe coupling which holds tight under all circumstances. The coupling can be used to connect all pipelines, especially for pipelines in which a substance under high pressure, eg. B. high-tension steam is passed on.
The seal is achieved by a sealing ring with a trapezoidal cross-section. The
EMI1.1
compression of the sealing ring in two directions, axial and radial, takes place. Each pipe coupling part is provided with a ring extension, which extensions with counter surfaces diverging symmetrically in the axial direction enclose a conical (trapezoidal cross-section) annular space. The sealant comes to rest in this annular space and is pressed in the same way from all sides.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 shows an elevation of an embodiment of the pipe coupling partially in section, Fig. 2 shows an end view seen from the left side and Fig. 3 shows an enlarged axial section of part of the pipe connection. between Fig.: 3 in the position in which all parts are firmly screwed together. FIG. 4 is an elevation, partly in section, showing another embodiment, e.g. between the one usually used.
The abutting coupling ends take a sealing ring 1.3 according to FIGS. 1-3.
The sealing ring has a trapezoidal cross-section and is delimited by the side surfaces 15, 19, 17 and 14. The end of the pipe 10 has a bulging projection 10a at the end. A thread is cut on this extension 10a, onto which thread a union nut 21 is screwed, which with the part 22 presses the pipe 11 firmly against the pipe 10 or on the sealing ring 1.3. The union nut 21 can be hexagonal or square in order to enable a key to be placed easily.
The bead-shaped ring extension 10a is turned out conically on the inside. The end of the pipe 11 is turned off in such a way that the surface 19 runs diverging from the surface 15 of the pipe 10. By plugging both pipe ends together, a conical space is created which, as I said, serves to accommodate the sealing ring.
The advantage, which is also achieved by the conical turning of the beaded ring projection 10a, is that once the sealing ring has been inserted. it is very difficult to fall out again, d. H. the tube 11 can be removed without running the risk of the sealing ring falling out of the other end of the tube.
If you want to connect two pipes in this way, you proceed as follows: First, the sealing ring 13 is inserted into the extension 10a of the pipe 10 and then the pipe 11 with its extension 18 is pushed into the sealing ring 13. The union nut 21 is then placed on the thread of the ring attachment 10a and tightened until the abutment surface 17 rests against the abutment surface 12 of the opposite pipe. As a result, the sealing ring is compressed on the one hand in the axial direction and on the other hand in the radial direction. This guarantees that the substance conveyed in the pipe cannot penetrate the sealing point.
In Fig. 4 a sealing ring is shown, the side surfaces of which are very steeply inclined to one another. The size ratios are determined depending on the ratios that come into question for the pipeline.
