   Die Herstellung eckiger oder scharfkantiger Gegenstände auf Drehbänken od. dgl. unter Verwendung der derzeit bekannten Vorrichtungen ist unvollkommen. Gemäss der Erfindung wird das Werkzeug beim Kantenwechsel, d. h. beim Übergang von einer Arbeit-   fläche   auf die andere, vom Werkstück entfernt und erst nachdem eine neue   Arbeitsfläche   in die Arbeitstellung gelangt ist, wieder in die Schnittstellung gebracht.

   Steuert man durch Schablonen, Kurvenscheiben in Verbindung mit Hebeln u. dgl., in der Art wie es bei Automaten, Kopierdrehbänken usw. bekannt ist, den Drehbankschlitten nicht nur in der axialen Längsrichtung des Werkstückes, sondern auch in der dazu senkrechten Richtung, so weicht der Querschnitt des Werkstückes von der Kreisform ab. Steuert man noch gesondert das eingespannte Werkzeug, so kann man auch den Schnittwinkel desselben zum Werkstück stets unverändert halten. Diese Werkzeugsteuerung geschieht im vorliegenden Falle in der Weise, dass das Werkzeug beim Kantenwechsel für eine ganz kurze Zeitdauer das Werkstück verlässt, welche Dauer durch die Form und Grösse des Werkzeuges bzw. des Werkstückes bestimmt ist.

   Das Ansetzen des Werkzeuges an die neue Fläche ist ähnlich wie bei einer Shapingmaschine und damit ist die   Scharfkantigkeit   gesichert.
